Do all 15 year old boys who vote for Blade get to go on a google hangout date with you? Cause oh damn, you'd pull in some votes :)

For reals tho, you should try to unlearn some of it at some point. Numbering is good organization imo, but "as we can see" are useless filler words. But I still have so much affection for debater-speak. Special place in my heart, even tho it doesn't play that well with lay judges. But good video. Was that off the cuff? If so, you're really good at composing your thoughts.

Great video. I don't think enough people have really talked about how similar blade and mikal's platforms are in areas that really matter/can actually be achieved. It also made me realize I'd been pronouncing mikal's name wrong in my head the entire time.

I actually know someone IRL whose name is Mikal. He pronounces it Mick-ahl, whereas DDO's Mikal pronounces it Mike-al (the same as Michael). But, I can never get the first pronunciation out of my head, so that's how my headvoice pronounces it.

i agree. the phrases i use to much are probably "as you can see" or "look to the fact" and i've been working on trying to remove those from my speeches. though, saying those consistantly is probably better than saying "uh/um/like" consistantly.

i kind of compiled a mental list of what i was going to say beforehand, but it was mostly unprepared.

that being said, it took a few takes to get it just right

lol, can we get a blooper reel?

btw, prob one of the best tips i got from a really great moot court coach was to try to stop talking so formally, and seem more down to earth. He told me to watch Joe Biden videos to emulate. He has a very natural way of speaking.

See, I'm gonna mentor you, if you like it or not :P

I actually hate recording myself giving speeches. It comes out so unnatural. When I was in high school, our coach had us do a mock debate for an instructional video. Except the other team from our school wasn't very good, so we had to script the whole debate out for them, even CX, and read it off a teleprompter. We all came out looking soooooo robotic.
