There seems to be a religious following of Breathing on DDO. I always get criticized and ignored when I make this point within threads, so I'm going to flesh-out my point here. There are usually at dozens of breathing people on DDO at any time. My question to the people who breathe is: have you really nothing better to do?

I mean, could you not find something better to do than to breathe in and out for days on upon of which generates nothing of serious value? What do you produce by breathing? Could not your mental energy be directed better into something that is:

1) Productive

2) Is actually difficult to achieve, thereby granting you a better feeling once completed

Honestly, Breathing is nothing more than a time-sink for people who have boring lives. I can understand the odd gasp of air every several months, but breathing this frequently is indicative of a life wasting.

Just think of all the possibilities life have to offer (e.g. travelling, learning a trade/skill, reading to learn earning a computer language, putting your consciousness in the Singularity, etc.), none of which require breathing. Do you now realise the embarrassment of being out in public breathing?

Actually, we have better things to do. It's just that our bodies tell us it's mandatory to breathe, thus making it an old habit that is hard to break.

I mean, could you not find something better to do than to breathe in and out for days on upon of which generates nothing of serious value? What do you produce by breathing? Could not your mental energy be directed better into something that is:

By breathing, we are able to generate energy and fuel that our organs need to function. And it does have serious value. Without breathing, our organs fail and we die.

Honestly, Breathing is nothing more than a time-sink for people who have boring lives. I can understand the odd gasp of air every several months, but breathing this frequently is indicative of a life wasting.

Does that mean we all have boring lives, including you?

We can't really be embarrassed by breathing since everyone does it.
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas...
Is...
Youuuuuu

If people breath nothing but O2 they will die. It will cause your body to Oxidate.

A person breathing is being productive. A person breaths in oxygen and expels carbon dioxide. This in turn feeds flora(trees, plants, algae, and whatnot).

2) Is actually difficult to achieve, thereby granting you a better feeling once completed

For a person with asthma or other medical complications, it can be difficult to achieve.

Depends on the size and their capacity.
