I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas...
Is...

It was only a year ago that I was doing exactly the same thing you're doing, only I was clambering for signatures to bring down the WS.

It's funny how times change...

How about a show that's interesting and productive, rather than just calling people idiots?

The Weekly Stupid already did more than just "calling people idiots;" it was an interesting take on how to avoid many fallacies, arguably improving the quality of debates among its viewers.

Not saying it was all good, but it certainly wasn't all bad.

"The Collectivist experiment is thoroughly suited (in appearance at least) to the Capitalist society which it proposes to replace. It works with the existing machinery of Capitalism, talks and thinks in the existing terms of Capitalism, appeals to just those appetites which Capitalism has aroused, and ridicules as fantastic and unheard-of just those things in society the memory of which Capitalism has killed among men wherever the blight of it has spread."

Epsilon: There are so many stories where some brave hero decides to give their life to save the day, and because of their sacrifice, the good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everybody lives happily ever after. But the hero... never gets to see that ending. They'll never know if their sacrifice actually made a difference. They'll never know if the day was really saved. In the end, they just have to have faith.

Not saying it was all good, but it certainly wasn't all bad.

I don't think it ever really pointed out fallacies. If it did, only the most surface-level and negligible ones, and doing so in the most petty and hurtful way imaginable. I honestly can't imagine that it improved the quality of intellectual conversation in any way whatsoever; and even if it did, bench directly told me that this was not the purpose of the show, but rather that it was intended solely to provide 'entertainment' by insulting people. Regardless, it was certainly not "an interesting take on how to avoid many fallacies", because finding the bottom of the barrel of the most obviously false claims and pointing out they're false is not interesting, and the method it used almost always involved fallacies.

"Look at this thing bornofgod said. It isn't scientifically accurate! What an idiot!"

I don't believe that anyone who isn't being disingenuous could say that this is improving the quality of anything. It's low-level entertainment, which imabench essentially admitted, and if it's to be honestly defended, it should be defended sincerely and on those grounds. To make out like you like the show because of its intellectual content or whatever is plainly misleading.

Well, in the ToS, it says that mere insults are allowed IF they are attacks on what people SAY, not the people themselves. So I don't see how it is insulting other people.

I'm not trying to get it banned. I'd be against banning it. But again, I think you're being disingenuous in saying that it's not insulting people. Anyone who saw the show knows that it did insult people. You might as well be arguing that there was no violence in the "Saw" movies.

An example of the type of thing I think of WS worthy, would be Valar_Dohaeris' vote here: http://www.debate.org...
I am not calling her an idiot, but when the instigator at no point in a debate defines the terms, nor disagrees with the dictionary ones provided. To then vote against the contender on the sole basis of them having disagreed with the instigator's failed interpretation of the English language... Well in case it does not speak for itself, the harm that would be done were such standard voting policy is enormous. Basically to vote against the contender, if they disagree with the instigator... End result: Yay free wins any time you start a debate.
