Hey DDO!

I've had many conversations with members about the way tournaments are currently organized, moderated and conducted and I feel that it would be best if we tried a new, better organized approach.

Having worked with Ore_ele, Debatability and Bluesteel, and spoken to a handful of other members, I feel that we have designed a reasonable structure, modeled similarly to how the mafia game modding works.

I believe the plan we have come up with mostly resolves current issues and also allows them to be better organized and more easily followed by spectators.

The plan is as follows:

In the "NEW MEMBERS READ Me!!" sticky (Post 16) - (http://www.debate.org...) there is a post dedicated to upcoming tournaments. Moderators for those tournaments will be added on a first come first serve basis (just as the mafia mod list currently works). Members who want to moderate a tournament, simply have to contact me (Airmax1227) or the DDO President (Ore_ele) to be added to the list.

A new tournament will begin on the first of every month, in the order in which the moderators signed up. There are very few limitations on what moderators can do with their tournaments (as far as seeding, themes, elo restrictions, jury voting etc), and sign-ups can be posted at any time within reason. Tournaments are limited to a maximum of 16 participants however. Even smaller tournaments of around 8 members, do take awhile, and so this plan anticipates that while one tournaments is reaching it's middle or end, that another one will begin, meaning that we will have concurrently running tournaments going on within this structure.

In addition to the above regular tournaments, there will also be a sign up list for those who would like to moderate Beginner Tournaments. The same rules apply and new Beginners Tournaments will also begin at the start of every month. Beginner Tournaments and the regular tournaments will run concurrently, and the moderators for those tournaments can determine what a "beginner" is within reason - but it is best to keep in mind that the purpose of these tournaments is to encourage involvement from new members.

So that's the basic gist of the new tournaments system. If you would like to moderate a tournament, please contact me or Ore_ele to be added to the list. If you have any questions please ask.

Thank you.

I think this will certainly help. Hopefully it pans out to its full potential.
