Isn't that topic kinda extreme? I mean there are several strong points for that, but the resolution seems a bit over the top for me.
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own

You could.
It also depends somewhat on who takes it. I'd be interested in seeing this debate though. :)

Not really. (1) Studies show that having a single ruler is more effective. (2) There are still checks and balances: the Supreme Court can still check the president's power. (3) Congress is almost 100% useless. It's power of the purse doesn't *really* constrain the president's power. It has rubber stamped every war proposal put before it. (4) If the president passed all the legislation, people would just be more careful about selecting a candidate whose policy preferences actually aligned with theirs. The presidential elections are simply higher stakes. (5) If you like government programs (at all), then vote democratic. If you want zero taxes and 20 wars, vote republican.

You literally convinced me in that one paragraph

Imagine how you're gonna do in the debate... Or maybe I'm just weak minded

NO. Maybe replace all sitting members would be a winnable debate.
It's not your views that divide us, it's what you think my views should be that divides us.

If you think I will give up my rights and forsake social etiquette to make you "FEEL" better you are sadly mistaken

You're saying no solely because you disagree with the stance, correct?

Yes, the resolution is not defined enough. Ok, you abolished congress, now what? Your resolution offers no alternative, thus you will be destroyed. We must have some kind of governing body to build infrastructure and a standing military. If you do want to debate abolishing congress include an alternative in the resolution. Do not try to clarify in the opening round.

Can you point me to where I can find some of these studies?

As in, a complete disestablishment of the legislative branch, or would there be a new legislative body?

Well, it's a pretty big claim to say that autocracy is more effective than democracy. I want to see some evidence for it.

You could easily make a good case for your side, but you couldn't beat my secret weapon for Con.
