Can't. Give up. Don't bother. No hope. You're finished.
(I have the same issue.)

Yes they are - and the proof is in the American Dad theme tune which references "a salute to the American race".

Yes, but in the UK everybody from the US is referred to as Yanks or Yankees.

By the way, are you people familiar with this little ditty?

Yankee Doodle went to town
A-riding on a pony,
Stuck a feather in his cap
And called it macaroni.

Did you realise the song originated in the French and Indian War 1754-1763 and was sung by British soldiers about American troops?

Here's an explanation of the meaning behind the song:

Yankee comes from the British slang for a Dutchman. The Dutch are famous for cheese so if an Englishman saw a Dutchman he might say "Here comes a John Cheese". The Dutch version of John Cheese is Jan Kees ("J" in Dutch is pronounced like "Y" in English) and this was Anglicized into Yankees. Then, as there were so many Dutch Americans in New England and the other North Eastern states, the label became attached to all Americans from that region.

Doodle is an old-fashioned English word for a retard.

The feather reference is believed to relate to the habit of the American soldiers' wives decorating their husbands' hats with feathers.

Macaroni is an old English slang word for a dandy (an ostentatiously dressed, effeminate man).

In the light of its insulting, anti-American sentiments, I'm really surprised they made it the state song of Connecticut!
