I've been confused lately as to what the percentile statistic on a person's profile represents. Also, is higher better?

It is basically where you stand debate-wise on DDO. It is sorta like a ranking. And yes, the higher, the better.

But what exactly is the percentage? I know it's not the win %. But what exactly does the stat calculate?

It is where you stand in comparison to other debaters on this website.

If a debater has done 217 debates and won them all, then his percentage will likely be 99.98-100.00% because he has a high number of debates and has won them all. Now, if another person has done 217 debates and lost 39 of them and tied 8 of them, then his percentage will likely be about 82.78% (or something like that). They have the same number of debates completed, but the Win-Tie-Loss ratio is different, so the percentage compared to other people is the same.

It's the NUMBER of wins compared to other debaters and rounded off.

Alright, thanks!

He's wrong. It just counts number of wins, nothing else.

I already pointed that out.
