What is percentile?

I've been confused lately as to what the percentile statistic on a person's profile represents. Also, is higher better?

It is where you stand in comparison to other debaters on this website.

If a debater has done 217 debates and won them all, then his percentage will likely be 99.98-100.00% because he has a high number of debates and has won them all. Now, if another person has done 217 debates and lost 39 of them and tied 8 of them, then his percentage will likely be about 82.78% (or something like that). They have the same number of debates completed, but the Win-Tie-Loss ratio is different, so the percentage compared to other people is the same.

It's the NUMBER of wins compared to other debaters and rounded off.
