We have seen the annual rise of the "DDO is going down the drain" panic. We have also now seen the rise of the TSFDDOIOAIBWDIOPIMDSACPPAE, which serves as a safe haven for non-millennials.

But now I come crashing in like Jesus, to preach that neither the Jews nor the pagans are right. Like Jesus, we must create our own path! So, I now do declare:

1) Instead of complaining about a lack of intellectual discourse, we should create topics that will birth intellectual discourse. Have you noticed how every once in a while a good topic pops up and all of a sudden we see popular members from 2 years ago weighing in? I have. It's most likely because they are still around, but are just seeing nothing worth participating in.

Perhaps one way to expand participation is to start sharing our personal inquires more often. There have been many times where I've backed out of a thread in which I am posing a question or sharing an opinion - all because I think that my opinion or question is stupid or one that no-one would appreciate. However, for all we know, these inquiries could potentially spawn the next great discussion here. I will personally try to do my part in expanding the discourse of this site, and truly commend those here who already do.

2) Instead of creating safe havens for the intelligent people, make the entire span of DDO Forums that safe haven. Without going to such extremes as actively blacklisting members, perhaps there is a way for us to collectively frown upon immature or senseless discourse. This will obviously be difficult because as individuals we all have our own subjective definition of what is immature or senseless. However, there are clearly key issues that have still not reached their synthesis. We should be actively engaging in such discussions, while also remaining completely clear of nonsensical threads. Alot of people scoff at the notion of "not feeding the trolls", but there's something to be said about boredom. Most trolls claim to troll out of boredom, thus why they feed off reactions. If we simply avoid giving any reactions, they'll move on due to further boredom.

While this isn't an end-all solution, it would at-least move those troll threads down the list and eventually out of sight, while the meaningful threads remained on top due to being bumped from active participation in the discussion. This is already being done as well, so it's not really a new strategy by any means, but perhaps by actively engaging in this strategy, it will eventually become an active norm instead of a passive one.

----

All in all, this thread is about as useless as the other two that I'm poking fun at. It's merely a third way of looking at things. Stay Classy DDO.

Personally speaking, I have made an attempt to increase the quality of the site by putting all of our Muslim members in a high quality competition. [http://www.debate.org...] I can tell you the progress is even better than I imagined.

Lol, your posts are really funny sometimes. I enjoy your sense of humor, and sometimes you really do post some stuff that makes me think, even if it's just hardcore video footage. I applaud your recent efforts of increasing the quality of the site my good sir.
