This House believes that provision of Internet services should be a public utility.
This House would enforce a civil right of survivorship on social media.
This House would ban the publication of software which is specifically designed to enable access to the darknet.

Remember all competitors (except Kasmic, who gets a free win :) ) have only 24 hours to rank their topics. In the event that there are any issues at all, please contact me asap. Good luck!

are you allowed to tell me what the civil right of survivor ship is, because I don't understand the resolution's meaning or implications.

You... probably won't want to take a topic you don't understand. You have a bit of time to do research though I think.

NP then. I can try to, but a 30-second google search is certain to explain it better than I ever could.

I don't know what these mean.

I didn't know about the first one either, the second one, according to my own interpritation, mean: Should we let people access the deep web (look that up) using certain software that enable that

Just made an account for the WODC. I am in agreement with those above me. The first two topics were a bit confusing, although the last one was clear.

It comes down to what people are familiar with. Internet - and tech/science + legal topics generally - can often get fairly technical and can come down to what you're familiar with. But then so can something like IR. Your recent debate on Armenia for instance, not many people would know about Armenian issues in global society, but IR is something you've always been quite invested into topic-wise.

Fair point. I am not exactly psyched about internet topics, but then again there are people who get really excited that the WODC has internet topics.

It's tradition in RL international tournaments to have one round dedicated to the host country's issues. Some CAs can be creative with that though.

This to me is sort of the equivalent. I wanted there to be a round about the USA since most people in the tournament are from there, but honestly a round about the internet is better.

Nowhere. A bye is where you get a free win in the round because there are uneven numbers in the draw.

It relates to property. Say you had a DDO account, then you die. Should you have the right to nominate somebody else to joint hold certain rights to your account with before you die, so they can take over it upon your death? Yahoo used a "no survivorship" contract clause for many years to ban access of relatives to dead people's accounts.

I think it could well be my personal favorite of the three. :D

Larz and I spent a good deal of time on these topics, and we're pretty thoroughly satisfied with them. They all seem pretty even, as you'll see is the case across other rounds. The elimination rounds I'm particularly excited to see.

Would you like me to change your ranking? I can do that from my end until your opponent select their topics.
