I am from the U.K and old enough to remember the good old days. The days when you could pinch a woman's bottom on the train and get away with it. The days when you could refer to black people as ni%&3rs, w^*s and c00*s, and you could call a disabled person a cripple. Society has gone bonkers in the U.K, as there is a fear that almost anything said may upset some minority or another. The Liberals have managed to convince the oversensitive that they are correct in being offended, and the indigenous people are racist, homophobic, and sexist, albeit I am proud of being all of those things. It's almost like us bigots are being discriminated against. I'm sorry, but this is all the fault of America and it's legal system. When the U.S.A sneezes the U.K catches a cold. I remember 20 years ago being told by someone who spent a lot of time in the U.S.A what it was like, and telling me that one day it would be the same in England, well he was bloody right. That doesn't mean I don't like you Yanks, because most of the ones I have met I have got on well with, and many believe that what I say is true, and they hate it as well.

Does anyone think there may be a way back from this lunacy, or is there any chance we can return to the days of blazing saddles ?

Well if it wasn't for the Leftist media we'd be normal. That and if we'd had a "Thatcher" for a few more years instead of a Bush and a Clinton and now we have an anti-Colonial Socialist in Charge that's degrading the world powers. Of Course I'm not a fan of you Blimeys either, but hey, I guess that's what you get when you pick a fight with the IRA and want to enslave the Irish and take away their homerule.

To be fair, it probably isn't a good thing to pinch a random woman's butt or to use racial slurs, even if society permits it.

LOL, The Americans never understood the Irish thing. The fact is that the VAST majority of NORTHERN Irish people wanted to remain part of the UK. Most Americans didn't even have the basic intelligence to realise that Northern and Southern Ireland are two separate countries. If the majority of Northern Ireland wanted independence, there is little doubt they would have got it, but that was never the case. You were no doubt duped by the Catholic terrorists collecting money in order they could send it back to the murderers who gained great pleasure from killing innocent bystanders, women and children. There are few things that get me more wound up than the ignorance of Yanks and the total misunderstanding of what happened in those dark days. If you really want to go back far enough when the English took Ireland for themselves, then you are right, but based on that factor, you should all feck off and let the native North Americans live in piece, because you can't have it both ways. I don't know what state you live in, but if 30% of it wanted independents, whilst the remainder wanted to stay part of the U.S.A, would you consider terrorist action legitimate, because I doubt it !!

Thatcher at the time was a complete Goddess. We had anarchy, with the miners attempting to bankrupt the country. If she hadn't of done what she had done, do you really believe we would still be digging up millions of ton of coal that nobody wants.

Anyway, that's not the point. Political correctness is evil, and you should be ashamed

It's a lot more complicated than that.

Political correctness is something that happens because the aristocratically elitist privileged right switched sides in American politics. Their goal was to spread the burden of privilege upon those in society who indeed aren't privileged while taking advantage of their higher cultural exposure. That way, they can socialize in a way that others can't, and gets others stuck in a rut.

If you want a good comparative example, consider Canadian conservatism versus American conservatism. In Canada, there's no need to be politically incorrect because conservatives there remained loyal to their cause. They care about heritage, tradition, and culture. In fact, Canada's main gripe with Americans is they're so materialistic and all about consumerism...

...but if you know anything about American politics, you know that liberals are often the ones who embrace materialistic consumerism in order to deconstruct social values. Yes, a lot of conservatives embrace consumerism as well, but these are the "libertarian-fascist" types who accuse liberals of being artsy-pansy hippies.

I mean if you want, think of it this way.

Let's pretend the world was one race and one gender such that racist and sexist "political correctness" had no value.

Would that really make a difference?

To give another example...

...Jeremy Clarkson recently got fired from Top Gear.

Do you think Don Cherry is ever going to get fired from Hockey Night?

No, I realize that Northern Ireland wants to stay independent, because they fear that they will be abused by the Catholics based in Dublin. That's why the NI's capital is in Belfast. I also realize that if we observe the history of the Irish Islse that those who are in Northern Ireland were forcibly settled there while the English enslaved the Irish to North America as POWs. We can see that it's the English that are at fault here and that the only reason that the UK still possess the NI is due to it's opressiveness of the Irish nation just as Thatcher took the Irish Vote away.

Thatcher at the time was a complete Goddess. We had anarchy, with the miners attempting to bankrupt the country. If she hadn't of done what she had done, do you really believe we would still be digging up millions of ton of coal that nobody wants.

I realize this and for some reason many UK Textbooks demonize her for the attacks on the Unions and the massive privitization that she did. I agree with you that she was great and she even helped restore some of Britian's greatness by quickly defeating the Aregentinians in a War over the Falklands.

Anyway, that's not the point. Political correctness is evil, and you should be ashamed

I realize that and I dislike it as well. But I'm not ashamed as I'm not the one practicing it.
