Just curious... there any other members on this site who just love everything about working on cars?

No, but I once 'went out' with a car mechanic.
All the time your soul is craving and longing for something else. And in vain does the dreamer rummage about in his old dreams, raking them over as though they were a heap of cinders, looking in these cinders for some spark, however tiny, to fan it into a flame so as to warm his chilled blood by it and revive in it all that he held so dear before, all that touched his heart, that made his blood course through his veins, that drew tears from his eyes, and that so splendidly deceived him!

No, though I did work in a place that did tires and oil changes. I know a ton about tires, but I'm know enthusiast, and I actually judge people pretty harshly for the tires on their cars.

For example, to this day if somebody has more tread on their front tires than back tires, I whisper under my breath "idiot"

Well, I suppose there's only one way to find that out. So, if anything, I commend you for your exploratory spirit.

That's funny, I just got new tires recently. Thought that was the cause of my vibration, but it ended up being the drive shaft.

Currently I run a bridge saw cutting marble and granite. I also run several different machines that are less used such as CNC and in line polishing systems. I am a machine operator by trade. I have run dozens and dozens of different types of machinery some costing millions of dollars. Part of that profession to be competitive is to know how to fix them. Cars are simple compared to some of the machines I have worked on. You can't just run to the auto parts store to fix them. You in many cases have to fabricate parts on site or reengineer a similar part to fix it. You can't wait a month for the part to come from Italy or Germany. Time is money. Ebay is a god send for finding used parts in a hurry until you can get a new one if needed at all.

I tinker here and there, mainly just breaks and fluids, plugs these days, but also bigger jobs in the past. I did get ambitious once and pulled the engine and tranny on a 68 Chevy and cleaned & painted everything, new gaskets, hoses, etc. That was a bitch. Much respect for guys that do it every day, and the modern car is a nightmare compared to a stock 68.

I've also done body work cuz I think it's fun, but I'm not very good at it. You would have complained if you got my results at the body shop :). It was good enough for my old Camry.
