Dont you hate it when someone accepts your debate and then waits almost 72 hours just to write "I accept" in the first round ?

To have more time to prepare for second round or to cause me to lose every bit of enthusiasm for debate ? Or both :D

I do it to try and time when I'll have to post round two. I try to get it to a day when I have plenty of free time.

But how can you know when the opponent is gonna respond. You can only time it to that day +/- 36 hours (if 72h is respond time) to leave you in your free time zone of 72 hours.

I know if I want to write my argument on Tuesday and I accept on Wednesday, I stand a better chance if I wait 72 hours to accept

Thats true. But its still far from accurate if your free time threshold is only one day.

It's two factors for me: if I think the debate will be taken quickly, I want to grab it now. And two, how much do I need to prepare for the debate. I would assume the instigator has prepared - for all I know for many days. Why would I give up 3 days?

Well, yes. Unless it was a challenge directed at you.

I have been passing on debates recently because I just don't have solid blocks of time. People and subjects I want to debate are getting messed up, and all I can do is apologies.
