INTRO

Congratulations to all participants who advanced and thank you to all those who have competed thus far. The debates have truly been magnificent! These are the pairings for round three. Good luck to all remaining contestants!

RULES

All debaters will be given 3 days to select a topic and begin their debate (begin = to accept the debate). If they fail to decide on a topic, a topic from the National Forensic League's (aka National Speech and Debate Association) LD and PF databases will be selected and assigned to them. The hosts will use relevance, fairness, balance, and clarity to choose potential topics from those lists. Sides will also be assigned at random in those cases. If a topic is assigned due to an expiration of the 3-day discussion period, debaters will be given an extra 24 hours to start their debates. Finally, given the odd number of debaters, "bye" rounds (i.e. free rounds) will be randomly awarded to debaters; no debater will be given a "bye" round twice in this tournament.

In order to keep things progressing in a timely fashion, debaters are asked to keep voting periods at 10 days or less and debaters have the following options regarding how to set-up their debates:

A. 4 rounds with a 72 hour (or less) response time; or
B. 5 rounds with a 48 hour (or less) response time.

All other formatting (voting systems, elo caps, etc.) are up to the debaters to agree upon. Hosts will only become involved in those issues should the 3-day timeframe expire, as well as a 24 hour grace period that will be granted if debaters are hung up on formatting disputes.

If you have any rules-related questions, please query Tej and I in your official tournament PMs. Again, good luck :)

The debates of this tournament have been great reads, and the debaters have really made an effort to put their best foot forward. It's because of that that I'm rather disappointed with the lack of voting in this tournament. Hats off to Kozu for voting on Romanii and FourTrouble's debate, and I certainly appreciate all of the votes on my debate with thett3, but with only 2 debates this round, each should have gotten more than one vote apiece. They deserve more than that. I hope that, since there's only 2 rounds left in this debate, we'll see an increase in the number of votes per debate. Of course, that's up to the community. I'll continue to vote where I can, and I hope others will step up as well.
