There are certain users that are incredibly passive aggressive. This is problematic to the community because it breeds hostility in a way that is difficult to defend against, but serves to invalidate and undermine the user it is targeted toward. The person engaging in the passive aggressiveness gets to hit the person they are targeting, and when the target expresses discontent, the aggressor gets to feign ignorance or deny any form of maliciousness.

It is clear that certain passive aggressive users are not as intelligent as they purport to be, yet their reputation on DDO is everything to them, and so they hide under the illusion of superiority.

Have you encountered passive aggressiveness on DDO? How did you deal with it and what would you recommend?

It's not that hard to defend against. You just treat them like a child and move on, fall into a flame war, and get the other guy banned.

The person engaging in the passive aggressiveness gets to hit the person they are targeting, and when the target expresses discontent, the aggressor gets to feign ignorance or deny any form of maliciousness.

True. It happens. Basically everywhere in life.

It is clear that certain passive aggressive users are not as intelligent as they purport to be, yet their reputation on DDO is everything to them, and so they hide under the illusion of superiority.

May not necessarily be true, but that's kind of passive aggressive, or at least non-committal aggressive which is basically the same picture in a different frame.

Have you encountered passive aggressiveness on DDO?

Yes.

How did you deal with it and what would you recommend?

Of course. You'll find a passive aggressive response often when you outmatch someone intellectually. I just troll people so they get actually aggressive then tell them to call down bro.

Commentator on a picture with David Cameron and a Cat: 'Amazing what you can achieve with photoshop these days. I'm sure that used to be a pig.'

Commentator on Hillary Clinton: 'If Clinton is now what passes for progressive, maybe this country deserves Trump.'

Commentator on British parliament: 'All that talent in one place, where is Ebola when you need it?'

John Kerry on words: 'These aren't just words, folks.'

It's not your views that divide us, it's what you think my views should be that divides us.

If you think I will give up my rights and forsake social etiquette to make you "FEEL" better you are sadly mistaken

I'm glad you brought this up because I feel certain users get away with calling other users out by making threads not directly at them, but by heavily implying the thread is about another user. Passive aggressiveness needs to be stopped.

At first, I had no idea who this thread was about. Clearly it was about someone, but I think I know who now. I'm curious if I'm right, especially in light of Maikuru's comment.

That said, I agree that passive aggression is generally bad, but as a rule people are aggressive and that can manifest either overtly or passively. This is especially the case where emotions are entangled with other things, like, for example, political ideology.

It would be good if people could engage in political discussions candidly, without subtle "attacks" on others. Perhaps there has been even more of that of late, and it's bad, so to that extent I agree with the OP.

Agreed. If I may add, certain events have transpired. And I've thought about certain things. And I'm sorry for the way those certain events transpired. And I would just like to make some changes about certain things and certain situations.
