Only our Fuhrer Airmax is capable of such sorcery.

Do you mean fixing what you meant to say in a previous post, or intentionally altering the words someone else has said? The latter is very frowned upon, but youre allowed to do the former as long as you do so in a timely manner

I hate Airmax. The guy is a major douche, and the worst mod ever. I want to remove any trace of him from my DDO movie, and wish he will burn in the deepest, fiery, dark depths of hell from whence he came. That is all.

Imabench, how could you say such things?

Because allowing people to retroactively change what they say makes it more difficult to have intellectually honest debates. If you say X, Y, and Z, and I write a long post to object to Y, and then you edit Y out of your post, you can reply to me and say: "lol, you totally didn't understand what I said--I never argued Y." It can allow for more subtle manipulations of arguments too.

Ultimately, it is kind of Orwellian. If you can edit history, you can control the flow of future dialogues. I think our comments should be written in stone (unless it violates the TOS), and that we should be held to account for those comments.

This is easily solved though surely? prevent editing as soon as anyone adds another posts to the thread? That's not ideal but certainly better than being unable to edit/rephrase something...

So, if I say something that violates the TOS, and soon after realize I shouldn't have said it, and edit that to avoid being caught, that is okay? No, it's not, and editing is just generally not desirable.

It also would make mafia games a pain in the a** to play when someone tries to cover up a scum-slip
