I can technically not vote without a foreign cell phone number, therefore I ask whether or not people find it acceptable if I used the cell phone of someone in e.g. USA to be able to vote. I see nothing in the site rules that speak against it, that is why I wonder.

Thank you.

I know that iPanda does it, and I got free offers (many thanks to innomen who offered and m93samman, too). I just wonder if it i against the rules, that is why I want to double-check. It seemed like some sort of cheating, but maybe it is not.

I don't think it is against the rules. I think the purpose of the rule is to inhibit people creating multiple accounts for vote bombing. It inhibits that by providing a phone number that can be traced back to the person voting by calling the number. That works no matter who owns the phone. The rule does not say that the individual who confirms must own the phone.

I think anyone who completes three debates without forfeiting should be able to vote. Vote bombers are not likely to complete that requirement.

If anyone from America (or another accepted country) on this site is super nice and prepared to let me use one of their mobile numbers for confirmation, I'd greatly appreciate it. I promise I won't do anything dodgy with it.

For the record, as i have found out. Only one telephone number may be used once, that is to say, you cannot use the same cell over and over - apparently they keep that tight too. Fortunately most of us have friends that will help out with getting a code, but we do then trust you with someone's tel#.
