So you know how we have an informal guide to ddo? Well I thought why not have an informal guide to philosophy? Bear with me.

There are multiple histories of philosophy from Copleston to Russel to Durant, but there are very little actual "introduction" to philosophy. I propose a basic guide which firstly gives an introduction to what philosophy is, defines some key terms, teaches some basic logic and reasoning skills, moves onto some concepts of philosophy, and then ends with how to debate philosophy.

So I can cover pretty much near all epistemology, morality, metaphysics, and science related stuff, but I do need help with that, people who are willing to go over the work, read it, and edit it for grammar or otherwise content. I also need people willing to write on issues I do not believe in like omnism, or vegetarianism.

I especially need someone to write down political philosphical ideas, and go over stuff like totalitarianism, democracy, and etc etc.

The first chapter of the guide will be logic, which I have already started covering. We can have further chapters on logic, but this chapter will just include informal logic, basic syllogisms, inductive logic.

Later on we can add more complex logic like propositional and modal, belief, deontic, fuzzy etc. But yeah, a basic chapter on logic, and then immediately a chapter explaining the basic ideas of general philosophy: what philosophy is, a little history, key concepts like a priori, a posteriori, analytic-synthetic, reduction, proposition, relativism, objectivism, objective morality, etc etc.

And then it can grow. So I will make a group on ddo or on facebook (or if some tech savy person can make one of those discussion servers) and we can start with this. Whose with meh?

If we do a philosophical guide though, I dibs categorical logic, syllogism, valid forms of deduction, propositional calculus and I'll take some predicate logic (not all).

Is this a spin-off of http://www.debate.org...?

I realise that a dictionary and a guide are not the same, but it seems to me that you have fairly similar goals last time and this time.
The thing is, I hate relativism. I hate relativism more than I hate everything else, excepting, maybe, fibreglass powerboats... What it overlooks, to put it briefly and crudely, is the fixed structure of human nature. - Jerry Fodor
