Dear Fellow Debaters,

I have this concern about the division between good debaters and awful debaters. Allow me to state my concern.

There are a lot of awful debaters here that are debating with a very relevant topic. Most of the times, these kind of debaters are teenagers. Having said that, my another concern is that there are many good debaters that are not wise enough to snipe these 'noobs' and debate just to add +1 in their win record.

I have checked all of them, and there is a possibility that the topics that those noobs debate in are their assignments. But the debaters that are skilled in elaborating their point have shown all the information. And therefore, the noob conceded.

To think about, are these noobs really debating with all their might? Are they really serious? Or just copy and pasting the noobsniper's argument to Word, make some adjustments, and just present them for their assignment? Looking at them, they are not really serious to give the information they wanted their opponent to ingest. They are just, in fact, fooling this noobsniper.

Thank you very much (and by the way, this post is for the moderators),

If computers have no doors or fences, who needs Windows and Gates?

I have a 10-0-0 debate record with an ELO ranking of 2,814. From 610th during my first two-week stay, I am now 326th in the Debates Leaderboard: http://www.debate.org...

This happens all the time, and noobsnipers probably know that some noobs are just baiting them to provide sources or evidence or whatever. However, for the noobsniper, they still get what they want: the free win. So, both parties walk away contented.

Not to be a critic but, aren't we supposed to live by the slogan of DDO: "where intelligent minds from around the world come to debate online and read the opinions of others?" Those noobs are not so intelligent and the competency (hardness) of one-on-one debates began to fall down.

Everyone noob-snipes to some degree, and to some degree it's acceptable. There are people who's ELO scores are not respected, however, because all they do is noob-snipe. Zarroette and Mikal are examples of prolific noob-snipers. When done in excess, noob-sniping is frowned upon.

And not just noobsnipe but plagiarism-snipe. dsjpk5 is one example.

Wow, I wish DDO was around when I was in High School.
