Look. I hate the "bye cruel world" posts, but a friend posted a goodbye post recently that made me want to post this.

The responses run between "nooo, don't go!" and, well kicking people out the door. There are posts almost always about how things were in the past.

Look. People come and go. That is good. No, its GREAT! People need to come, and move along. Fresh blood, people growing out of the site. There is not static state where things were, or are going to be perfect.

Young blood here, and still hungry for victories. Good old people retire because of their priorities in life. The legendary debaters retire because they are tired of winning and debating (that's all I know). But me, as a rookie, I found debating very addicting.
If computers have no doors or fences, who needs Windows and Gates?

I have a 10-0-0 debate record with an ELO ranking of 2,814. From 610th during my first two-week stay, I am now 326th in the Debates Leaderboard: http://www.debate.org...

Why should people move on? Because a website is not a permanent home. The friendships people make, well, all good. If the friendship is positive, and meant to stand the test of time, it will continue without the site.
