Anyone think that there should be an option on debates (along with the charcter limit, voting time frame, and round limits) that allow you to set voting restrictions, like only people that have completed 5 debates can vote on this debate, or members that have been members for at least 3 months, or something along those lines?

I'm not saying that all debates should be done like that, but it would be nice if there was a box that was checked which would allow that if it was so wanted.

No.

I've had about 3 threads suggesting pretty reasonable improvements here at DDO, like optional voting standards. No interest.

I think that would help improve the site. It should be done like that rather than have the elitist phone style :p

Not so much that there is no interest. Just Phil isn't going to waste the minutes it would take to program such a difficult task.

Yeah, I'd like to see an alternative to the phone restriction, since that cuts out legitimate members.

I should be able to limit the accounts that vote on my debates to people that have historically voted me up.

Adding features that limit new members will lessen new membership due to a lesser involvement.

Also make it impossible to self vote.

Self-voting is only unfair when debating people that can't self-vote themselves.

Or anyone who [like me] refuses to vote for themselves, cause whats the point? Its really just hoping the other person doesn't/can't

No, it's still fair. You are perfectly able to vote for yourself. I always vote in my debates. I even usually give my opponents points and provide an RFD.

Also, I forgot I even responded in this thread. However, wjm's reasoning mirrors mine.

I only self vote when my opponent does, but then I vote fair (I try to always vote fair) I think I voted for panda in a debate of ours actually.
