I've compiled a list of five suggestions for Debate.org. If any staff members are viewing this, please take the following into consideration:

- Limit gender options to two options (male and female).
- Allow users to change their user name.
- Remove the "opinions" section. (The polls should cover this.)
- Fix the polls.
- Improve moderation (add more moderators).

If anybody has anything else to add, please feel free to comment. I hope we can improve the quality of this website, despite Juggle leaving our site to waste.

Lol, only the polls are going to get fixed, and they will probably just get fixed to the point where they are usable with a bunch of glitches.

None of this is going to happen because the people at Juggle are too busy drinking whiskey and partying at late night.

Why not? The dictionary defines gender as "the state of being male or female".
- Allow users to change their user name.

No.
Again, why not? It'll save them from having to create a new account every time they want to change their username. I think we should have a name-changing system similar to that of Minecraft.

No.

Why not just male and female? A lot of other sites have only two options for gender.

Why not? The dictionary defines gender as "the state of being male or female".

In psychology today, it is understood to be a bit more varied than that binary. Even physiologically, hermaphrodites and intersex people do not fit either of those categories. But, regardless, it does no harm to you to allow the many options to exist. At most, you allow people to use words to identify themselves with which they are comfortable. At worst, you have multiple options. I don't get why this is an issue or why people want to remove them when there is literally no negative to doing so. Live and let live, people.

- Allow users to change their user name.

No.
Again, why not?

Because it creates unnecessary confusion.

No.

I doubt this very much. Plus, the opinions section is the only area of the site where non-members can participate on DDO.

Hopefully moderators consider more than 1 perspective
- Limit gender options to two options (male and female).
3 - male, female and other would suffice
- Allow users to change their user name.
No - please don't! I like that we can't change our user names - because it causes everyone to be accountable in what they post.
- Remove the "opinions" section. (The polls should cover this.)
This section can be valuable for someone who wants to get a feel where members may be on an issue they are contemplating debating.
- Fix the polls.
agree
- Improve moderation (add more moderators).
Moderation is great - not too much - just enough to handle serious offenders

Psychology Today, nice . . . I stopped feeding into their nonsense once they decided not to fire the guy who wrote the infamous "Why Are Black Women Less Physically Attractive Than Other Women?" article. Also, like I told Triangle, hermaphrodites usually discover their true gender later on in life, thus having an "other" option would be unnecessary.
- Allow users to change their user name.

No.
Again, why not?

Because it creates unnecessary confusion.
Not necessarily, if someone wants to change their name, that doesn't mean that they'll lose their friends, debates, votes, etc. The confusion can be manageable, it appears you are just making excuses at this point (not trying to sound harsh).
- Remove the "opinions" section. (The polls should cover this.)

No.
If we remove the opinions section, Juggle might actually begin to work on improving the polls.

I doubt this very much. Plus, the opinions section is the only area of the site where non-members can participate on DDO.
Don't you want more members on Debate.org? That's another reason why the opinions section should be removed.

That implies that they have a true gender. Thinking in binaries misses the reality of a non-binary world. There is no reason to believe that people are--by necessity--only male and female, and that they must somehow be categorized as such.

Haha, it's not that easy to get the totalitarian far-left SJWs off the website. They'll start going insane on us and they'll evade moderator action with the multi-accounting skills of heil/negroid.

If anybody has anything else to add, please feel free to comment. I hope we can improve the quality of this website, despite Juggle leaving our site to waste.

In case you haven't noticed, Juggle has, in general, moved on from this site and no longer updates it.
Yeah, I've realized that. That's why the community members and staff members need to start a fundraiser to purchase this site from Juggle.

This "community" will never amass over 200K, keep dreaming.
My apologies, didn't know it was that much.

Definitely not.

Psychology Today, nice . . .

I meant the state of psychology currently, not the organization "Psychology Today." I did not capitalize that phrase for a reason.

Because it creates unnecessary confusion.
Not necessarily, if someone wants to change their name, that doesn't mean that they'll lose their friends, debates, votes, etc. The confusion can be manageable, it appears you are just making excuses at this point (not trying to sound harsh).

You base that conclusion on an incredibly brief conversation? Now that is rushing to judgement.

The simple reality is that when people alter their username, it creates confusion for a variety of reasons. If someone is looking for "bsh1" they may be unable to find me under my old account. People will suddenly find a person they don't recognize in their friendslist. Old posts that have been replied too will not bear my username so there may be confusion as to who said what. All of these problems can be lived with, certainly, but they are a hassle. I don't see why creating a new account is necessarily less burdensome.

No.
If we remove the opinions section, Juggle might actually begin to work on improving the polls.

I doubt this very much. Plus, the opinions section is the only area of the site where non-members can participate on DDO.
Don't you want more members on Debate.org? That's another reason why the opinions section should be removed.

The opinions section allows people to get a flavor for the site before they join. It also brings in easy ad revenue for the site, and it's not really a problem. There is very little to gain from ditching the opinions on the off-chance that this might incentivize Juggle to care about other areas of the site.

Hopefully moderators consider more than 1 perspective
Yeah, like I said, if anyone has a suggestion, feel free to add.
- Limit gender options to two options (male and female).
3 - male, female and other would suffice
Why not just male and female? Do you agree that there are only two biological sexes? (Hermaphrodites are both, so they wouldn't be considered a separate sex.) Anyway, if you do, then you must recognize the fact that gender and sex are synonymous, thus there are only two genders.
- Allow users to change their user name.
No - please don't! I like that we can't change our user names - because it causes everyone to be accountable in what they post.
They'll still be accountable. Changing your username does not mean that your history will disappear.
It's not. People constantly get away with offending other members, and excessive swearing and trolling.

Why not just male and female? A lot of other sites have only two options for gender.

Hermaphrodites exist though, so "Male, Female, and Both" would be better options.
Usually hermaphrodites discover their true gender later on in life, so this wouldn't really be necessary.

That implies that they have a true gender. Thinking in binaries misses the reality of a non-binary world. There is no reason to believe that people are--by necessity--only male and female, and that they must somehow be categorized as such.

XX = Female, XY = Male, and anything else is a hermaphrodite or something. Gender dysphoria is really the only exception to this.

A man having so called "feminine" traits doesn't make them less of a male, and vice versa with "masculine" females. What SJWs want to do is over-complicate genders because of a few special snowflakes on tumblr that are desperate for attention.

People are only male and female (or both). There are only two genders, male and female. The reason why hermaphrodites aren't a gender is because they are both genders, thus they aren't considered a separate entity.

XX = Female, XY = Male, and anything else is a hermaphrodite or something. Gender dysphoria is really the only exception to this.

What you are describing is sex, not gender. Gender is the category one adopts, whereas sex is the biological state one is in.

"Gender refers to the attitudes, feelings, and behaviors that a given culture associates with a person"s biological sex. Behavior that is compatible with cultural expectations is referred to as gender-normative; behaviors that are viewed as incompatible with these expectations constitute gender non-conformity."

Whereas,

"Sex refers to a person"s biological status and is typically categorized as male, female, or intersex (i.e., atypical combinations of features that usually distinguish male from female)."

A man having so called "feminine" traits doesn't make them less of a male, and vice versa with "masculine" females. What SJWs want to do is over-complicate genders because of a few special snowflakes on tumblr that are desperate for attention.

I disagree. I see no reason to support the binary viewpoint if it doesn't reflect reality--and the reality is that not all people born male identify that way, and that not all people born female identify that way. I understand that there is a certain clarity in uncomplicated traditionalist views like the one you just articulated, but in their straightforwardness they miss the nuances that are part of the human condition. I do not see why, for instance, being born XY must make you identify as male, if you feel female (or something else, like genderqueer). It feels very much akin to saying that someone born with chocolate skin must identify as Indian...it suggests that genetic traits must dictate how we group ourselves and present ourselves socially, and I reject that notion outright.

And, by denying people the option to identify otherwise, you are essentially telling them how they must identify. I see no harm to anyone else in letting people select their individual identities, but I do see harm in telling them that they can't.

Still though, many hermaphrodites may be "bigender" or be undecided on what they feel like identifying with.
Most hermaphrodites know their gender before they are able to operate a computer, so that wouldn't be necessary.
It would still be a better idea to add an option as "other" though, because all the SJWs on DDO will go mad otherwise.
Who cares about them? If they don't like Debate.org, then they can go back to Tumblr.
Haha, it's not that easy to get the totalitarian far-left SJWs off the website. They'll start going insane on us and they'll evade moderator action with the multi-accounting skills of heil/negroid.
Once again, who cares? We'll just ignore them until they get bored and move on.
