Im NOT bullsh*tting you on this...... A vote on a proposal to have a DDO Purge would/could be allowed by Airmax at a DDO Convention, depending on the details of the proposal. For the TLDR version, skip to the line of = marks across the post

I talked it over with Airmax in a PM just cause I have no social life and was genuinely curios about this.... For those of you who dont know, a 'Purge' is an interesting concept invented by a mediocre set of films that allows for a temporary suspension of all rules for one day so that people can go buck-wild, as a means for preserving order the rest of the year..... There has recently been some chatter of bringing a purge to DDO due to how hot-button the topic of moderation on the site has become, so I asked Airmax if under a DDO Convention setting he would allow for people to vote to create a 'Purge' on DDO.

He said 80% yes.

Let me explain.

His original answer to the question was that he would have to 'see the details of the proposal before allowing it to go up for a vote or not'..... A not-yes-not-no kinda answer that you usually get from Airmax asking about almost anything..... So, I threw together some 'details' for a mock-proposal of a purge, and asked him if based on the main details I provide, if he would allow a vote to implement my general idea for a DDO Purge to proceed.

To THAT, he said yes

If DDO Conventions are implemented (meaning I win the presidential election that starts on the 8th) then I can say here and now that Airmax would/could allow for there to be a vote on creating a DDO Purge, meaning he would not exercise his veto powers against such a proposal right off the bat.... (dot dot dot)..... Depending on the details provided in a mock proposal.

===============================================================

To really water this down, this is the example of a DDO Purge I made, then asked Airmax if he would allow for a vote on such a proposal, to which he said yes..... This DOES NOT MEAN that a Purge vote will ONLY be allowed if the Purge is built around the details I listed below.....

There could be a different Purge proposal that may end up being vetoed.
There could be a different Purge proposal that DOESNT get vetoed.

Here are the details from the Purge example I provided that Airmax would ALLOW for there to be a vote on (note that he doesnt 'approve' of there being a Purge simply by letting there be a vote on it)

1 - A DDO Purge would take place once a year or once every 6 months
2 - A DDO Purge would last 24 hours or 12 hours
3 - During a DDO Purge, no death threats are allowed whatsoever
4 - During a DDO Purge, no doxxing or hacking of other peoples profiles are allowed whatsoever
5 - During a DDO Purge, no multi-accounting is allowed whatsoever
6 - During a DDO Purge, all restraining orders would be suspended for the length of the Purge
7 - During a DDO Purge, threads can be made against other people, BUT, those threads are subject to deletion once the purge ends

So if youre on the fence about who to vote for in the election, but you really hate the 'special snowflakes' on DDO who victimize themselves and all that to exploit moderation, you should strongly consider voting for me in the upcoming Presidential election..... If you on the other hand you really, really dont want for there to be a Purge, and you really, really think that the Presidency should be preserved...... Then f*ck off, snowflake

As the new moderator, the Purge is now approved.

However, because you mentioned the now suspended "election", you shall now be perma-banned (reference: http://www.debate.org... )

Is YYW just sprinting to get temp-banned again in the hangout or are they talking about other sh*t?

Well I imagine that if you and Airmax are in a hangout together youre either viciously opposing youre previous temp ban and only burying yourself in a deeper hole, or talking about butts and stuff instead

Not many reactions. It is a pretty docile Hangout because we're playing Risk. 7th just made an out-of-context Max quote but that was it.

I don't care about whether an ideology is "necessary" or not,
I care about how to solve problems,
which is what everyone else should also care about.

I was expecting some more expansiveness.

Ones I can think of off the top of my head: (Theyre not necessarily good ones, just ones I could think of)

1) April 1st has historically been a day featuring people breaking rules that was cleaned up the day after, so a Purge has already been practiced on a watered-down scale with no nefarious after-effects or lasting harm done to the site

2) Some people do think that moderation on DDO expands a bit too far, allowing a purge could pacify these people and maybe bring levels of moderation closer to what people consider good or ideal

3) Airmax certainly deserves a day off of moderation, so a Purge would be a mini-vacation for him that most people agree he has certainly earned and deserves

4) It just might be crazy enough to get Juggle's attention if everyone on their site is suddenly behaving like wild hooligans

5) Drive the special snowflakes off the site or at least make them grow some thicker skin

6) If the Purge applies to voting standards as well, then people could be allowed to cast votes however they want without it being deleted (til later maybe)

7) People can blow off some steam they otherwise wouldnt be able to do. I might even be able to put out the craziest Weekly Stupid episode I could put together which im sure everyone would get a kick out of

8) Certain forums that have been empty could get a bump in traffic

9) Because a Purge would be planned beforehand, people who do not want to participate or wish to avoid being targeted could simply not log on or check the site for a day and gloss over anything that happens/anything aimed at them

10) I get to flame some idiots I think should be flamed, which is always fun to watch when you arent the idiot im targeting

OK bench - you are making some sense.

I have a better idea - why don't we all just act a fool for 12 to 24 hours? There's no way moderation could keep up - lol. Oh wait I know why not: members like you, Mikal, and YYW would be the ones' to get banned since you have a history of being banned. Now do you see how arbitrary moderation is here? The biggest rebels (other than YYW and why I respect him) on the site are the one's who support officiating of activities. I still don't know who I'm voting for and I'm definitely not a snowflake.

BTW - It's really manipulative to try to make members feel as though they are snowflakes if they don't vote for you.

Thats quite possibly the worst argument ever made for the claim that moderation is arbitrary....

Yeah, I get that from a participant in the purge - but the people who don't want it aren't going to feel better by not logging on. And before anyone responds "they need to have thicker skin" - what? You want to be an a$shole freely to them, but it's them at fault? That's just an indefensible position.

On the other hand, if someone deserves to get called out on their sh!t, just do it outside of the purge. If the argument against them has legitimacy (so, not many in the petty feuds here), then they won't get punished.

9) Because a Purge would be planned beforehand, people who do not want to participate or wish to avoid being targeted could simply not log on or check the site for a day and gloss over anything that happens/anything aimed at them

Sure they can. If someone is mean to you on the internet, but you dont even notice, then have you been harmed? People who are targeted during the purge are more then allowed to fire back as well, its not like their handcuffed and only one side gets to fire shots.

On the other hand, if someone deserves to get called out on their sh!t, just do it outside of the purge.

Kinda hard to do that if they dont listen to reason (Brontoraptor) or you have an RO against them that a Purge would temporarily nullify.
