It the light of recent events we have determined that the presidency needs to be redefined. The lines between moderation and the presidency has been blurred a bit, and we will fix that. http://www.debate.org...

The presidency is something that is authorized and voted on by the users of DDO, and we need to be able to hold our own, instead of asking Airmax to police us, when he has so much on his plate already.

This new era of the presidency requires us to come up with a way to appoint election voting moderators, implement voting standards, strictly define the role of the presidency, and a host of other things.

Time to:

Bridge The Divide

Rule Committee

The rules committee will be made up of 15 people, charged with making the new rules on how the presidency operates. This will be done by me acting as a facilitator and sending out 4 rounds of questionnaires. A specific version of the Delphi method has been developed by me for this process, to be used to determine the future of the presidency and how it operates. https://en.wikipedia.org...

Voting Rules

I want to make sure every camp from the last election is covered, so Imabench voters will only be able to vote for imabench voters. DK voters may only vote for DK voters. Wylted voters may only vote for wylted voters.

Each person may post up to 5 votes, for 5 different people. No multiple votes on the same person.

Voters/candidates eligible to vote and be voted on in the Imabench camp.

Imabench (30): imabench, BlazingRodent, thett3, Mikal, SeventhProfessor, Subutai, ShabShoral, Romanii, Forever23, DarthKirones, TBR, Diqiucun_Cunmin, Skepsikyma, TN05, tejretics, Lexus, RainbowDash52, FREEDO, Burzmali, Torton, Hayd, desmac, , yomama12, birdlandmemories, triangle.128k, slo1, Vaarka, Krazzy_Player, Sapphique,
dsjpk5

Voters/candidates eligible to vote and be voted on in the Donald Keller camp.

Donald.Keller (16): Ragnar, Unitomic, TUF, 21MolonLabe, whiteflame, 16kadams, bsh1, Rosalie, ColeTrain, kasmic, Kreakin, Sam7411, NothingSpecial99, donald.keller, F-16_Fighting_Falcon, The-Voice-of-Truth

Voters/candidates eligible to vote and be voted on in the Wylted camp.

Wylted (59): TheChristian, Jovian, Emmarie, janesix, famousdebater, zmikecuber, MagicAintReal, Harikrish, Peepette, Geographia, Vox_Veritas, Bob13, Greyparrot, Nivek, RyuuKyuzo, debatability, brontoraptor, skipsaweirdo, someloser, Edlvsjd, PetersSmith, Death23, ESocialBookworm, Buddamoose, darkkermit, Kescarte_DeJudica, lannan13, ballpit, Bennett91, XLAV, Danielle, Geogeer, fire_wings, MadCornishBiker, Deb-8-A-Bull, Adam_Godzilla, johnlubba, Robkwoods, Hanspete, ClassicRobert, TurleDoveSammie, bballcrook21, Objectivity, daley, Riwaaz_Ras, difference, annanicole, Dilara, SJM, ben2974, RonaldTrumpkin, Adam2isback, mrsatan, Midnight1131, HardRockHallelujah, Koopin, PGA, themightyindividual,

http://www.debate.org...

Whoever is picked is who we will proceed with, even if nobody is picked, or if the person you pick is uncooperative. up to 5 names from each group will be used.

Voting begins now and will end when I post the final vote count, which will be approximately 72 hours from now.

Please make sure to BOLD your vote and please refrain from using bold font for anything else.

Keep in mind that once you place your vote, you may NOT change your vote.

Also please note that this election, like other elections before, may be very close. Please consider very carefully who you vote for beforehand, because if you vote in a joking way, you can not change your vote. Your "joke vote" will be counted for whomever you voted for, and will not be changed under any circumstances. Considering elections have been decided by very few votes in the past, it is worth recognizing that these joke votes, placed for someone else, could very well have ultimately decided the outcome.

YYW's right though, this is too early.

Wylted's analogy about a CEO vs Union Leader is vaguely accurate though. The moderator answers to Juggle. The presidency is a position to represent the memberbase's interests. It's independent of any official power granted by Juggle and it's not up to the mod to hold referendums to abolish the position.

The question then becomes who has that power?

We're not talking about impeaching Wylted and electing someone else in his place which is what all the pro-referendum people are making it sound like. If that were the case, it would make sense to do it with or without Wylted's consent.

We're talking about a referendum to abolish the presidency. If anyone can start referendums on anything and get a bunch of people to agree with them (while no one else recognizes their legitimacy), on what basis do you decide whether it is legitimate?

The most obvious answer is that a community referendum is legitimate if the elected president initiates it. Telling Wylted that he's posting prematurely because a referendum is happening is meaningless because it's not happening unless he initiates it - and clearly he has no plans to.

A Wylted presidency is what the people wanted. They voted him in and some like Mikal called Wylted's strategy "genius" tacitly encouraging further votes. Drafter and Skep called it glorious. Well, it's done. Wylted is elected. As it turns out Wylted wasn't what Mikal and others had hoped for and that's okay. Sometimes things don't turn out the way you expected. When you "joke vote" to "troll" or to "entertain yourself," this is an example of the type of consequences you may have to deal with. I'm sure these members will take that into account next election and vote more responsibly. That's how democracy works.

Voting someone into office for the heck of it and then complain that things didn't go exactly to their liking is ridiculous. They made a judgment call and it sucks that they endorsed someone who wasn't what they expected.

I was just saying that all this voting at once can make people politically apathetic, and thus result in lower turnouts and/or apathetic voting.

Yeah, that's fair enough. Personally I think Wylted should start developing some type of cabinet in PMs to help plan things out before implementing changes.

Guys this is just another pathetic and childish attempt by Wylted to try to preserve his hijacked victory.... He doesnt have the authority to create a rules committee, the presidency itself doesnt have the authority to create a rules committee, there is no indication from Airmax whatsoever that he has approved for there to be a rules committee, and the referendum literally starts tomorrow or the day after that, which would give a rules committee only 2 days tops to agree on rules, which we all know would be impossible

In short, Wylted is lying to you all yet again..... This is just another attempted roadblock Wylted has created to try to preserve his sham victory. The results of who you vote for to be on the voting committee will have no effect whatsoever because there is no voting committee being assembled in the first place...... It, just like Wylted, is a sham lie.

Airmax has no authority over what creating a "rules committee." That's strictly within the purview of the president.

There is going to be no referendum. The "rules committe" that Wylted wants is apparently to:

1. Appoint election voting moderators
2. Implement voting standards
3. Strictly define the role of the presidency

The first is relevant for the next election six months from now. The second is also only relevant six months from now in the next election. The third determines the plans that Wylted will implement over the course of his presidency in the next six months.

To be clear, Wylted doesn't seem to intend to hold a referendum. If you want it that badly, send him a PM and try to convince him to hold one.
