"To say that the event wouldn"t have been caused if it would not have been for this character is not necessarily true, for if YYW would not have done what he did someone else would have done the same thing for the driving factor still existed, and would always exist when an attempt at realizing an ideal occurs.

"Whether YYW"s plot was created in his mind prior to him ever joining the site, or came to him at some point during his membership we will never definitively know. I have a feeling though, something that scratches the nape of my neck whenever I think about it, that I was there when the bird took homage in his mind, building a nest with each passing month."

The old man closed his eyes then, the wrinkles in the eyelids like dunes in a desert drying up the river of his eyes. He licked his dry lips and opened his eyes again, a river of the blue of his iris flooding through the desert with the vivacity of the memory.

*******************************************************************************
YYW and I were walking through the countryside. The scene reminds me of childhood movies of rabbit people. Every color was a palette of palety; baby blue, yellow, green, and orange. It was rural, cobblestones studded the path but did not protrude from the ground. They were embedded evenly with the grass surrounding them so that one was not on a platform when walking on the path, but even. The stones were spaced out too, with around an inch of grass between each successive stone. The path was around four and a half feet across, meaning that both of us traveled the edge of the cobblestone road, the outside foot moving just outside the boundaries of the path, silently depressing the grass on either side with each step.

YYW would break the parallel travel by stepping in front to unlatch and open the occasional white old-fashioned yard fence that entranced the gardens of strawberry, tomatoes, green beans, and squash, their arms entangled around wooden posts. Him stepping back with the swing of the gate, I would walk through and hear the latch clicking behind me and him stepping back into view on my left on the parallel.

The sky is pale blue, and the clouds are swirls and the sun is faint, insignificant. We stop at the top of a hill, a field of flowers on the bottom. The flowers are yellow and white, with small stems. They are dotted among tangles of other indistinguishable plants, as well as grass of the Shire.

We had made small talk during the walk, I had anticipated more substantial conversation once we reached a stopping place.

YYW spoke, "Why does DDO seem so off lately?"

"I don"t know," I responded, curious, "maybe it is because of all the AMA"s?"

"No, I have been annoyed with the overload of AMAs for a while now. This feeling is new."

"I bet it is the debate I was in recently, with all of the bad votes."

"Yes, that is it. I had never thought these people bad voters, or bad pupils of the art of debate until now. People I respected before I have lost respect for now."

He looked wistfully at a distant tree. Its base grew abnormally leftword, in a U shape, becoming perpendicular with its bottom base right at the start of the branches, which grew normally up from there. It was a vaguely frightening figure, but in a way I could not discern. Although I had walked through this same landscape many times before, the tree had never looked odd until now.

Something about these words frightened me, the meaning of it was hidden in my unconscious, unwilling to give the words or explanation to my consciousness but rather the permeating unease that could do nothing but seethe through the barrier and give me unease.

The rest of the conversation I forgot, but regardless, it is irrelevant. The feeling was still there. I had always found feelings the strongest criterion in which I acted on: the ability of people with strong chemistry to gel and mesh in an unexplained, lackless of the attempt to understand, and absence of logic way that the strongest motives and meaning of ourselves resided in the unconsciousness. The most prevalent way to communicate is this: pickup soccer games when my team consists of childhood friends that I had known since I was four years old. We have no established formation, strategy, or any sort of logic based plan. We just feel our way through it based on our chemistry. The nature of the feeling is not to be understood but followed. In the case of YYW"s words, I had a feeling that I did not understand but could not follow since I did not even know what it pertained to. How could I follow a feeling of unease? In soccer I could follow the feeling on what to do with the ball in the game, but in this case I was lost.

*****************************************************************************************

The children surrounding the old man had minimal understanding of what he was saying. What fascinated them, and kept them listening was his voice. Most of them had never heard his voice, and those who had were surprised and thus interested in the high contrast between the rasping depressing voice of elderman Hayd and the powerful and nostalgic voice now. Even those who had not heard his voice before found the same interest in the contrast between his voice and his body. The physics of his emaciated form producing such a voice was fascinating in and of itself. Not only this, but the poetry and cadence of his voice was enthralling, causing the listener to lose track of time and surroundings as their mind delves limitless into the story.

**********************************************************************************************

Years went on, and YYW became more and more of a presence on the site, and as a result so grew his influence. Nothing of alarm ever occurred though. The worst his existence brought was drama, and regardless, his positive effect on the site far outweighed any of that and thus gave no reason for any substantial number of people to become alarmed at his presence.

The first cry for alarm came when Whiteflame was found dead in his apartment with 69 bullet holes in his corpse.

You really like making fanfics in which a bunch of DDO members die, don't you?
You're probably thinking right now "haha I'm a genius". Well you're not -Valkrin
