Okay, so you work hard writing the terms, thinking of a topic, and making the first argument of a debate.

You wait a couple of days for someone to accept, and are glad someone finally did. But, it turns out that they are some dumbass troll who just writes some stupid not-funny stuff and ruins this debate.

Any Thoughts?

Thoughts consist of primarily the fact that you are offered by hand a free win. Simple. F*** the troll. His/her own fault for accepting then losing.

Pose the challenge with the resolution, definitions, and "this round is for acceptance and definitions only." Add the caveat "By accepting this debate, my opponent agrees that a failure to provide serious arguments concedes the debate and loses all points." Also maybe, "This debate is open only to members who have won at least three previous debates, and by acceptance my opponent agrees that violation of this condition concedes the debate and all points."

By clicking "advanced options" near Opponent you can also restrict acceptance based upon age. That doesn't work very well because people lie about their age, and we have some good young debaters who shouldn't be excluded. There is also a check box to restrict acceptance to members with equal or greater rank. That may work, because trolls don't accumulate many wins.
