It's not your views that divide us, it's what you think my views should be that divides us.

If you think I will give up my rights and forsake social etiquette to make you "FEEL" better you are sadly mistaken

What do you expect from a guy who wrote this:

I agree with this guy at some level. The debt is essentially meaningless, at face value. The only thing that really matters is wether the U.S. is able to produce enough wealth to justify that debt. And by wealth I mean real stuff that people actually want. Having said that, the debit/deficit is a reflection of taxation, and taxation reduces our ability to produce stuff that people want. In addition, levels of regulation have a tendency to mirror taxation, and regulation also reduces the ability to create wealth. On top of that, money printing from the fed (which supports a higher federal deficit), steals from savers and saving is another component of wealth creation. The U.S. is very wealthy, which makes it relatively easy for the federal govt. to siphon a bunch of that off. And the scheme they have set up to do it is really quite ingenious, considering that most people are convinced that the theft is necessary.

I have two words "Weimar Republic" Yes reducing debt and spending will affect people negatively. It is supposed to. Those who benefit the most from govt spending suffer the most from it's cuts. The reason govt doesn't cut spending is to maintain that dependence thus control. The free market would easily in a few short years move those from dependence to self sufficiency because the private sector would show great increases in profitability do to govt not confiscating all the wealth and redistributing it in the most inefficient and fraudulent manner possible. The free market and capitalism isn't for everyone nor is freedom. It is only for people with a sense of self worth and personal responsibility. Capitalism and the free market is a nightmare for the person who plays the victim and has no personal responsibility or self control they are better off under a nanny state of communism or socialism. They need to led around and told what do every minute of their lives. They can't handle freedom of choice, they can't acknowledge that their bad choices should have bad consequences such as them and their families suffering along with them. Capitalism the free market and freedom isn't for wussies and the irresponsible. That's what socialism and communism is for.

Good point sadolite. I never thought of wording the argument that way.

I always knew that social programs breeded dependency, but I never associated dependency with control, which is probably because I was more concerned with the taxpayer funding element being associated with control to realize that the dependent sycophants on the other end are also being controlled.
