I must have seen this video a bunch of times. All I can say is that man is just plain wrong. There's a reason why nations have focused more on mathematics and science then the arts. It's because the sciences and mathematics ARE more important subjects! The most important aspect of improving the quality of life, and economy is developing new technology. Then perhaps next important factor in developing the economy is keeping track of financial transactions, which requires a good understanding of mathematics.

And of course we should teach children that they are wrong. Cause guess what? Sometimes they are wrong! If an accountant screws up the calculations and puts the entire company in perils, of course the accountant should be held responsible and is in fact wrong.

I believe the video the phantom posted more or less covers the issues with your point, and I would also like to say that the TED talk was not just talking about creativity in the category of aesthetics but also in its approach to history, English, languages [not English], math, science and other such things. The question is whether the loss of creativity is worth it. Creativity is the only reason new industries are formed. The issue lies with the fact people are being trained to avoid error like the plague which in and of itself makes people attempting to use the scientific method [which is trial and error hence prone to mistakes] which facilitates the development of new things damn near impossible. Why keep the economy alive if it will screw over all of the individuals who must live under it? It is more economically advantageous to foster creativity within children for it is the only way they will ever be able to make innovations.
