I'm going to post 5 Questions up regarding logical fallacies, and it is basically "spot the fallacy" (name it):

1. "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?"

2. "Don't bother arguing with him, he'll never change his ways.

3. Seeing as how my dog has four legs, and my cat has four legs, my cat must, undoubtedly, be a dog!

4. "Life is life and fun is fun, but it's all so quiet when the goldfish die."

5. "Look, you are going to have to make up your mind. Either you decide that you can afford this stereo, or you decide you are going to do without music for a while."
Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach him how to be Gay, he'll positively influence the GDP.

And number five isn't just a false dichotomy.

Loaded question

Argument from ignorance

3. Seeing as how my dog has four legs, and my cat has four legs, my cat must, undoubtedly, be a dog!
Hasty generalization

4. "Life is life and fun is fun, but it's all so quiet when the goldfish die."
Non-sequitur

5. "Look, you are going to have to make up your mind. Either you decide that you can afford this stereo, or you decide you are going to do without music for a while."
Reductio ad Hitlerum

How about slippery slop for number 5.

4/5, and the obviously wrong one is wrong. Made me smile though. :D

So what is number 5 then?

Still, no one?

Well, if it isn't false dichotomy, I'd say it's an Appeal to Force.

It sounds kind of like a threat. "You're gonna have this or nothing, fool!"

Hasty generalization.

I would say that this is a weak analogy, rather than a hasty generalization.

1. "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?"

Loaded Question

2. "Don't bother arguing with him, he'll never change his ways.

I honestly have no clue.....

3. Seeing as how my dog has four legs, and my cat has four legs, my cat must, undoubtedly, be a dog!

Fallacy of composition

4. "Life is life and fun is fun, but it's all so quiet when the goldfish die."

This is an opinion. Not a fallacy.

5. "Look, you are going to have to make up your mind. Either you decide that you can afford this stereo, or you decide you are going to do without music for a while."

False dictotomy.

OK, it seems on the last question some people and sources are saying my answer and the answer I have are synonymous, and others are saying there is a subtle difference. So, in accordance with common usage, I've added a second answer to the final one. Some will say there is a subtle difference, some will say they are synonymous, but them's the breaks.

Weak analogies are the result of fallacious analogies.

Well, everything else is answered. No need in attempting them.

Something like, ad hominem or poisoning the well

3. Seeing as how my dog has four legs, and my cat has four legs, my cat must, undoubtedly, be a dog!

Fallacy of composition

Wouldn't the fallacy of composition go more like, "My cat has four legs, so my cat is a leg"?
