Ew.... I can't stand it when people measure their successes with GPA's. I myself prefer average percentages.

I think it's more fair for your GPA to count more toward college than SAT score. How can your entire future hang in the balance because of one ridiculous test? Not everyone's a good test taker, and that has no bearing on how much they know the material.

that you can take multiple times.

Gee whiz, good thing there are no tests in school.

Bad test takers are bad test takers. They say that SAT score increases a little the 2nd time you take it, but is very unlikely to improve after that.

Yeah, tests that aren't nearly as important .

On a percentage level (not sure what this translates to as GPA- I can't stand the measuring system):

98% Alberta Curriculum Average

94% Judaic Curriculum Average.

Average of the averages 96%.

Usually, I just take my Alberta average into consideration as the Judaic curriculum is near useless.

curious 000ike, did you do bad on your SAT scores?

lol I haven't taken the SAT yet. And I do well on the other standardized tests I take, if that's what you're getting at.

I'm just saying that people shouldn't have so much in the balance over one test.

I hope everyone posting in here realizes that this thread is targeted at HitchSlap.

SAT scores are strongly correlated with wealth; they have little to do with actual academic ability.

Your GPA doesn't really mean anything here. We all come from varying schools and varying programs with varying degrees of difficulty.

What was your high school and or college GPA?

Share and compare.

HS: 4.3 weighted; 3.8 unweighted

Something like 3.5 or 3.6. I don't really care, as long as it's above 3.4 or so. Most of the sh!t you learn is useless anyway. :P

If you have never made less than an A in college, then you obviously are not challenging yourself enough. Take a real man's course for a change.

The SAT's are basically an over-glorified IQ test. As it turns out, your IQ is a better predictor of your university performance than whether or not your end-of-the-year mind-map for geography class was colour-coded using your teachers favourite colours or not.

Fair enough, though that's not actually accurate. Your GPA is a reflection of your intelligence and fitness for college in the same fashion that your SAT score might be. That's why people with high SAT scores generally also have high GPAs, and why the inverse is also true.

SAT score and high school GPA are about equally good at predicting college grades (at least 1st year grades). IQ would probably be a better predictor of grades, but the SAT isn't as closely correlated with IQ as it used to be.
