what are a faulty assumption and a syllogism when preparing your argument for a debate..

A faulty assumption is where one or more of your premises are held as true, when they are not so, or the conclusion does not follow directly from your premises (non sequitur).

A syllogism is a term in logic to denote premises > conclusion, for example,

If P then Q
.: Q

In English, it relates to formulating a coherent argument, where the conclusion is supported by your premises.
