I eat pasta every day for dinner because I'm too poor to buy anything more substantial. I got 10, 16 oz boxes of pasta and 1 100oz can of spaghetti sauce for $15.

Every night I stare at a list of advertisements that we got in the mail featuring burgers, pizza, arby's and close my eyes and imagine that I am eating them instead of pasta.

For breakfast I have Captain Crunch. For Lunch I have either macarooni and cheese (box) easy macaroni and cheese, or spaghettios.

For Dinner I have pasta with meatless sauce. Sometimes I mix in ground beef.

I bought my books used online for 115 dollars for the first semester. I plan on selling them for 200 to classmates.

I have a home-grown computer repair business and have earned 400 bucks so far on campus. I made over 300 dollars yesterday in the stock market by investing in index funds.

I predicted the current bear market 3 months before it happened.

I have a Roth IRA of 5300 dollars and a 529 worth 3000 dollars. All of this was from personal earnings of my business or my summer job as a computer intern.

Thats pretty much all I feel like saying now.

You know, you could just have waited until the blog feature came around. This is not really discussable. If this were on Newgrounds, it would have been deleted.

I've been reading these threads and all I can say PoeJoe:

This is not newgrounds or even like it. Newgrounds is not the standard for message boards.

Newgrounds has an exceptionally high quality of posts. If we are not careful, this forum can become like 4chan.

4chan was excellent. Don't dismiss it. So what if we had some fun?

Additionally, until the "blog" feature comes out I'll post whatever the hell I want to post on this site.

If you dont get any amusement out of this topic I suggest you create your own that can bitch about topics like this.

Additionally this topic can be ways to save money in college, and funny experiences in it.

Okay okay guys, calm down...Let's not be mean to each other ><

PoeJoe has always been kind of sensitive towards topics he doesn't agree with, it's nothing personal scissors.

Come on Poejoe, give the guy a break. This topic can be useful, just give it time.

The biggest money saving secret I have, is of Chinese origin going back thousands of years...

Rice.

A sack of rice contains about 50 cups. Each cup expands to 3 times its size after cooking in a rice cooker. Essentially, 150 cups of rice.

Now here's the miracle.

One cup of rice, after cooking, is 700 calories. Meaning, one cup of rice for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner gives you 2100 calories. No fat, no ANYTHING. Pure carbohydrate if you buy the right kind.

A sack of rice will feed you for 50 days, and costs about $10.

This is how the toiling farmers of China managed to work in the paddies for 16 hours a day for meager pay and still eat enough.

You can eat it with anything, just to give it flavor. Canned sardines, canned tuna, Spam, vegetables and soy sauce, even tomato sauce. Scissors mentioned ground beef. Take the ground beef, eat it with the rice, it's just as good, if not better.

Sorry, math error on my part. A cup of DRY rice is 700 calories. 1 cup dry rice = 3 cups cooked rice. One sack will feed you for 2 weeks, assuming you eat 3 cups of dry rice a day for the 2100 calories.

If you only eat it for lunch and dinner, it'll feed you for almost a month.

Eating it for just dinner, 50 days :P

Ah, agreed with Kleptin. Rice is the miracle grain.

As an Asian, I totally perpetuate the idea of being a rice eater. I honestly don't think I've gone a week without rice! (excluding my baby years of course)

Same here :P

In fact, "eat rice" is idiomatic for "have dinner". Big part of our culture ^^

Rice is amazing - cheap and filling! I like mixing it with beans, putting it into soup or broth, mixing in vegetables, putting different spices on it (chili powder is a favorite), etc. However, if being bored of the same food is your problem (i.e. pasta) then just do what I did: tell your friends to steal you things (esp. fruit) from the dining hall. Raid your parents house when you go home. I used to leave with bags upon bags of groceries from home lol. Also stock up on things that are cheap and can provide various meals, like frozen bagels, cereal, etc. You're not gonna really avoid carbs on a budget. Also - and this is very important - THE DOLLAR STORE IS YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND. They have actual frozen meals and other random good stuff in the food aisle. No kidding.
