NO WAY ITS WAY MORE LOGICAL TO ASSUME THAT SUDDENLY A RANDOM ATOM THAT APPEARED FROM A WORMHOLE STARTED EXPANDING AT T=0 WHICH CONSEQUENTIALLY CREATED THE WORLD WE KNOW.

1.) We don't have much experience with matter coming into existence, so there is no basis for saying what is more logical.

2.) What is more logical has absolutely nothing to do with the truth.

How did you come to know the truth??

The link to the poll rvealss: "In the new poll, about four out of five Americans (79%) correctly respond that the earth revolves around the sun, while 18% say it is the other way around. These results are comparable to those found in Germany when a similar question was asked there in 1996; in response to that poll, 74% of Germans gave the correct answer, while 16% thought the sun revolved around the earth, and 10% said they didn't know. When the question was asked in Great Britain that same year, 67% answered correctly, 19% answered incorrectly, and 14% didn't know."

Thus Americans, while not too bright, are a little smarter than Germans or Brits. This is depressing.

Roy Latham is right. There will always be a sizable percentage of any country that lacks intellectual ability.

America, Britain and Germany should be proud that they investigate such matters and openly publish the results.

Society needs scientists, intellectuals, et al, of course, but somebody has to clean the toilets!

Wait...the EARTH revolves around the sun?! Since when?
Man has always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much...the wheel, New York, wars and so on...while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man...for precisely the same reason."

Yeah! Our kids won't know what a condom is or how to prevent an STD but at least they'll know the earth revolves around the sun!

How about abstinence??? What a novel idea. And besides, condoms are utterly useless in preventing STD's, the naturally ocurring gaps in them are very large (This is a scientific fact.) WHy don't we just teach abstinence and be done with it?

Abstinence is an unrealistic option. Every teenager wants to have sex and most will succeed so the best option is to teach them how to be safe with it. Better than teaching abstinence and then when that doesn't work there occures a plethora of pregnacies and STD's because no one knows how to prevent them.

Take a look at Bristol Palin. What a great example of how abstinence only education fails.

They shouldve gone with the "Anything BUT" method of absitnence, with an emphasis on the But.

I take it you're abstinent by circumstance rather than by choice.

Seriously though don't preach abstinence if you're a virgin.

I take it you're also stupid enough to think that making alcohol illegal to kids is preventing them from obtaining it?

The Earth revolves around the sun relative to what view point? The center of the big bang? In the absence of a relative view point, assuming the earth is the origin of observing all cosmic motion wasn't entirely all stupid. They were able to still track the movements of constellations thousands of years ago. That is hardly stupid.
