Ok well today in American Democracy we had to turn in our late work if we had any to our teacher. As i went to turn in my 3 late assignments my teacher stuck out his hand and told me he was not taking my work unless i gave him 3 dollars to accept it. Can he do that?

Probably not something you can successfully screw him over on.
: If you weren't new here, you'd know not to feed me such attention. This is like an orgasm in my brain right now. *hehe, my name is in a title, hehe* (http://www.debate.org...)

Just in case I get into some BS with FREEDO again about how he's NOT a narcissist.

So... what's there to destroy evil inside of and above the constitutional government?

public or private school?

i doubt he is required to accept late work at all. could probably claim he was joking and never meant to accept it. unless of course he took the three dollars and accepted your work. that sounds kind of like extortion as he is in a position of power over you... but at a private school they can do whatever they want. what high school do you go to? is it shady? lol
evidently i only come to ddo to avoid doing homework...

I go to public school and it is just not me he does this with all 4 of his other classes. I am not the only one who had to pay him to turn in work. He will not accept the work without the money he says its a learning experience

You should be appreciative that he accepts anything later than even a minute it is supposed to be due.

Considering the alternative (him not accepting the work at all and you getting a big fat 0) then I'd pay the man and keep my mouth shut. That is of course unless you really dislike this douche, in which case the satisfaction of screwing him over would outweigh the lost marks.

Ha to panda. On a more serious note, that is highly unethical and probably breaks at least one state law. Teachers get seminars every year on ethics (I've sat through my share), and that is the most obvious form of unethical behavior. The grey areas, like making joking comments about students bringing you things for a good grade (which I do all the time in jest), are even actionable if the right zealous parent hears about it.

This. If you want the grade, pay the measly three dollars. If you personally do not like him, then you can turn him in. What he is doing is almost certainly illegal.

What does he do with the 3 dollars? Does it go toward some school thing? Does he have to accept late work, or can he just count it as a zero?

Write a little sign on cash. Gief cash. Call administration immediately, tell them you had to pay a bribe, and as proof he is in possession of cash with a little sign on it.

Or if you're loaded you can say you don't have cash with you but you'll bring it tomorrow, come with a tape recorder hidden and ask him to remind you what you had to pay for/

It is a life lesson - you have to realize that your boss can fire you even for being late on the job on any given day.

you should call the local news...

tell him it's a life lesson
"He who does not know how to put his will into things at least puts a meaning into them: that is, he believes there is a will in them already."

Metaphysics:
"The science.. which deals with the fundamental errors of mankind - but as if they were the fundamental truths."
