The best way to study is to be interested in what you're studying. The kind of studying that you won't just cram it all into your brain to spew it back out on a test and leave it at that.

I know a very unorthodox way of studying that I'll probably be criticized for posting. But it worked great for me. Let me find the video..

I learn by reading and memorising, but that's just me. I guess you could correlate the sciences (E.g. Glucose + Water + Oxygen is used during respiration which results in carbon dioxide, and work done during this is calculated by force x distance moved)

You believe it is due to boring content, or also because it is hard to concentrate for some reason?

Aah, I can't find the video but this is basically how it goes down and it's gonna sound really crazy.
Even though we don't consciously store everything we sense in our memory, we store it in our subconscious.
Theoretically, everything that has ever happened to you is stored somewhere in your subconscious.
What you do is just simply look at all the pages of a book up to a moderately fast pace and then when questions are asked about the subject you just give the answer which feels best.
Sh*t works, it's really freaky.
I'll still try to find the video.

take frequent breaks. force yourself to study for 15 minutes then go do something else for 10. and back and forth.

i also find that i concentrate better when i am taking notes, and when i am nowhere near the internet. lol... lock your computer away while you are trying to study.
evidently i only come to ddo to avoid doing homework...

Wait, hold up, you're doing 9 Subjects .I qualify that was beyond help :S. What were your Mock results?

Then stopped getting stoned, drink Lucozade\ Red Bull\ [Insert generic energy boost drink] and get cracking. Making notes but actually meaning them and reading them properly first will help.

370. not bad though considering i hadn't half the course covered. i'd say i'll probably make over 500 if i can get properly down to study.

that makes a lot of sense. i would probably end up spending the brakes i took testing myself on what i just read.

Not bad, but it'll be a hard for push for 130 extra points.

Seriously, have a friend hold it for you or something, or just put it away out of reach. Or at least just get high after you've studied.

lol, I can't study very well either...

I can read the relevant stuff usually, if I'm in the mood...

but otherwise... I just scoot along from what I pick up in class or simply fail :)

There are a couple of really good computerized flashcard-based learning systems that use an intelligent algorithm to speed up learning and improve retention. They basically brings up the cards that you have the most difficulty with more often and allows you to rate how well you remembered the correct answer. The process of making the cards is as much a part of the learning as the card review program. I won't claim this is easy, but it does drill the information into your head.

The first program is mnemosyne. It is open source and can be found here: http://www.mnemosyne-proj.org....

The second program is commercial and not free, but may be a little easier for some things. Supermemo can be found here: http://www.supermemo.com....

Good luck
