then the lord of the rings, then gangster movies lol

If you guys were a generation older, there would be a lot more mention of gangster movies as they were very hot during the 70s and 80s. Godfather, goodfellas, scarface, casino (Casino was early 90s I think).

saw

Still haven't watched any of the Saws, as horror flicks don't do much for me. Are they really that good?

the machinist

I'm a big Christian Bale fan but I turned this one off half-way through out of bordem. I'm thinking I should give it another shot.

dark knight

When I was 8 years old, the first Batman movie came out. You can't imagine how cool it was (take a glimpse at the 70s series and see how corny we were used to it being, e.g., the scene where batman is fist-fighting the shark DX) to watch that movie, with clean/crisp special effects and a dark, scary feel. Batman went downhill pretty badly in the 90s after that but nothing can ever compare to how cool the 1989 flick was in a comparative sense. Christian Bale's movies are OK but comparatively they aren't breaking any new ground here... the original Batman was light-years beyond anything that had ever come out at the time (Jack Nicholson is still my favorite Joker).

pan's labrynth

- need to see

crash

-need to see

memento

Definitely was thinking about memento while writing my list, the originality of the concept alone is worth a mention. My fav part was when he was getting shot at and couldn't remember whether he should be running or not.

donnie brasco

Cult classic, not directly up my allet but an awesome movie nonetheless.

requiem for a dream

trailer looks awesome, I must see this one. I'm starting to think that I'm behind the curve here.

edward scissorhands

Kind of sticks out of your list, due to how old it is. I remember seeing this one in the theater, and I doubt it could be half as cool on a TV.

a scanner darkly

This seems to be one of those movies that I watch and then completely gets dumped out the back of my brain and forgotten forever. I can recognize RDJ's character but none of the plot...

slumdog millionaire

- never heard of it...

v for vendetta

I'm starting to feel bad, now... this looks familiar but I don't think I've seen it :(

Pulp Fiction

QT's movies are all so good they would have just clogged up my list... Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, From Dusk Till Dawn... yeah.

Psycho

Is this an old movie?

The Departed

Definitely a good one. The part where the the hero dies at the end is, IMO, one of the most shocking parts in any movie ever.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Didn't bother watching... mistake?

Shutter Island

This one was a bit disappointing... There seem to be much better choices for mysteries than this one.

3:10 to Yuma

Surprised to see someone else put this one down, didn't think it had much mass appeal.

Where the Wild Things Are

The book was big when I was young, but I haven't gotten to see this one.

Dinner for Schmucks

trailer looked funny, but never heard of it;

Ace Ventura movies

uh... Jim Carey was a lot better in his ILC skits, I thought.

Star Wars movies
Lord of the Rings movies
Harry Potter movies(though the books were better)

Can't go wrong with these three series. Although I have to admit I've neither read the books nor watched the movies for Harry Potter :(
