Just curious, does anyone else think that the entertainment business has fallen in love with 15, 14, 13, 12, etc? Examples, Justin Bieber (sadly, the best on this list), Willow Smith (Whip my hair back and forth), and the infamous Rebeca Black (FRIIIIIIIDAY!). Anyone else think that music anymore has been overrun with auto tuning younger people?

There was a time when people didn't know how musicians looked. A 35 year old man who looks like the hairy guy who drives by the school slowly while eyeballing the girls running track could make a record, no one would know what him or the rest of his ugly band looked like. They sung about banal bubblegum pop stupid sh!t, but the illusion was there..There was no way to tell if the guy singing was in his teens, or Billy Mayes dressed in hobo clothing.

It's all marketing. The look of the band has become more and more important.. Even more so once bands started appearing in music videos.

Also, kids are stupid and the lowest common denominator, plus they tend to have the most disposable income. They'll basically buy any kind of crap that you shovel into their path. You want to market to the kids. Kids can relate to other kids a bit easier than they can to hairy adults.

Also, kids are the future, so it's more fun to corrupt and stultify the minds of the youth. Get em while they are young, and don't yet fully understand the language being used. Kids will sing anything that is catchy, even songs that they don't know the meaning of the words to. They could be singing a song about what stupid poser failures at life they are, and they'd never know.

Kids are the best target audience by far. Adults don't know sh!t from shinola, but kids are even worse.

"Baby" by Justine Bieber: over 500 million vies.

The lead single off The Strokes' latest album: 3 million views.

These are dark times indeed.

On the bright side, this kid is pretty talented:

No, it's just appealing to that demographic. The bubble gum, poppy, pre-pubescent crowd seems to love it, including my own children, whom because of it I have now disowned. :)
