This song is about the Battle of Gallipoli during World War I. It was fought between the ANZAC forces allied with the Triple Entente and the Ottoman Empire's forces allied with the Central Powers. There were almost 750,000 casulties for he whole battle on both sides and they were about evenly disributed between the two forces. This song is mainly about the ANZAC forces attempt to land in Sulva Bay, and due to the Ottoman Empire's entrenchments, they were slaughtered.

It's touching but it's no very sad at all. And the melody isn't very emotional either.

How isn't it sad? i mean I find the melody emotional and moving.

The melody is beautiful. However, I've heard even sadder. I can't fathom the what emotional depths were reached to concoct this....

I said it's not very sad, and I can't see the song bringing forth many tears on people whatsoever. Sorry mejt. The melody is something I'd use for relaxation, not for any emotional purposes.

What's sad about that Ma'am? It has a dramatic tone, but there's not much more to it. If you cry to that then you should check your gender once more.

I don't cry. And stop calling me ma'am. It was a beautiful melody

The thread is about sad, not beautiful melodies. I agree the melody is fine, but not very sad.

NOT many English songs. But emotional ones would be Evanescence - My Immortal, and Mad World by Gary Jules, etc. I mostly listen to folk music from the Balkans.

A song with a truly sad melody that I like listening to is the one to the right. It's one of the saddest in my opinion.

Why do you listen to music? You should listen to things that will advance you in life.
Think'st thou heaven is such a glorious thing?
I tell thee, 'tis not half so fair as thou
Or any man that breathes on earth.

You posted within one minute after I linked the video, which means you didn't spend more than about 30 seconds listening to it. The English lyrics are on the original page.

Nonetheless, I think a sad melody is drastically different to a dramatic melody, and both of you linked two dramatic, but not very sad ones. I could never get emotional by listening to those two at all.

What airmax said--Ron-Paul totally sh@t all over fiction. Needless to say, I'm upset.

This is one of my favorites. It reminds me of people who work so hard to get out of their home towns and fail.
