With the amount of music I listen to, everything gets old after awhile (especially because I commute almost 2 hours on a daily basis). I need new material!!!

I've tried this little exercise before, and more often than not it's done me no good good because I've already hear it or don't like it. But occasionally you bring to my attention a new band that I both never heard of and like.

So grab your MP3 player, hit shuffle, and randomly select the first 5 songs that pop up. Post corresponding audio so I can sample it.

1. From Exile - "In the Faded Silence"

2. Propagandhi - "Last Will and Testament"

3. Muse - "Starlight"

4. Phoenix - "Too Young"

5. Suicidal Tendencies - "Institutionalized"

WTF?

I have the complete discographies of KSE and Lynard, and I've never heard either of those.

What albums are those on? And the weird thing is, Howard is vocalist on the KSE, so I know it's not old.

The Ballad of Curtis Lowe is a one of their most well known songs. I'm surprised your not familiar with it. I think with was the Second Helping Album.

This Fire Burns is found on the special edition of As Daylight Dies.

Hmmm... maybe I only thought I had the complete discography. Good stuff though.

That's probably why. Don't have the special edition. The original singer, Jesse Leach, has just rejoined. I think they're in the studio now.

I heard that. I liked Howard Jones and I'm not as familiar with Leach. It'll be interesting to see if the new album is any good.

Times of Grace is a side project with almost all the members of KSE with Leach. You might dig it.

Never heard of them before. It wasn't bad, particularly because it had an old school death metal feel.

2. Animals as Leaders - Tessitura:

Already have it. Tobin Abasi is the man.

3. The Merciless Concept - This World:

Meh...

4. Queensryche - Resistance:

Haven't heard Queensryche in years!

5. Dying Fetus - Nothing Left to Pray For:

Could never get in to them. I've tried, just too over the top.

But you're definitely on the right track, as metal comrpises at least 70% of my daily intake ;)

Before I begin, I'll suggest The Black Mages. They're a Japanese rock/metal band that bases all its songs on music from the Final Fantasy Series. The reason for this is because the band was started by Final Fantasy's lead music writer, Nobuo Uematsu. This is my favorite song by them, called Zanarkand/The Skies Above.

Aside from that, you probably wouldn't like most of the songs in my collection if you listen to mostly metal. But I'll go ahead and post what I come up with.

Who I Am Hates Who I've Been -- Relient K

Fingernails -- Skillet

Oh! Gravity -- Switchfoot

The Worm -- Bride (not very good quality, but the best video I could find)

Alibi -- Tait

I never heard of The Black Mages Before. I'm listening to their Final Fantasy VI Dancing Mad song right now. Very nice!

On the subject of theme songs from Japanese video games here are my favorites.

Prisioners of Fate- Chrono Cross

Magus Theme- Chrono Trigger

Searching For Friends- Final Fantasy VI

Good, then I may be of help in finding new music!! I'd be near useless if you didn't like metal. :p

Since you like Animals as Leaders, maybe you'd like Exivious? Kind of a similar style of music, though no Tosin Abasi, so clearly not as awesome. :(

And here's some more music, maybe you'll like it, maybe not:

Blood Stain Child - Metropolice

Allegaeon - Accelerated Evolution

Disease Illusion - One Last Breath

Meadows End - Resurrection of Madness
