I was surprised that I did not already see any (active) threads on this subject, video games are a fundamental aspect of the lives of many people. Ahem.

Here, state your all-time favorite video game(s), as well as the 'best' games you have ever played. Discuss why certain games are better than others, challenge each other to debates, etc., etc.

My all-time favorite video game.
Lord of the Rings: The Third Age

It is likely that few of you have ever played/heard of this game. It was released in 2004, shortly after The Return of The King. It is a turn-based RPG with six main players. In all honesty, I'm not entirely sure what makes me love it so much where other LotR fans hate it. The feeling I get when playing is just... epic.

I still play it occasionally, even to this day.

The best video game I have ever played:
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

More recently released, The Force Unleashed is the most sophisticated and well-done game I have ever played. Not only that, but the story line is utterly fascinating. Before I completed it, I would wait with agony between playing sessions, wondering what new turn the story would take.

The fighting system was excellent, and the environment was very realistic. All of the mechanics were good, and there were few glitches. All in all, I was extremely impressed by it.

I don't have many video games at all, but I do choose them with great care, since I have so little money. These two are the ones I am most grateful to have.

Want Assassins creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2. My life is not complete without them.

Besides that, I just got a Hawx demo from my sis' friend who has gaming contacts.

Hawx isn't bad, but it isn't anything compared to the Ace Combat series. I recommend playing that before.

Personally, I enjoy a wide variety of games. I generally tend towards survival horror or shooters, either FPS or third-person, which is why a game like F.E.A.R. is perfect for me. But I also enjoy games with excellent story-telling, rather than ones that call for mindless violence. Also, interesting strategy games are also up my alley.

But other than that, here is a general list:
Assassin's Creed
Ace Combat series
Silent Hill series
Resident Evil 4 and 5
Fatal Frame series
F.E.A.R. series
Call of Duty 2,3,4 and of course I'll love Modern Warfare 2, formerly CoD 5, when it comes out
Prince of Persia
Starcraft series (I wish they made Starcraft: Ghost)
GTA 4
Metal Gear Solid series
Dead Space
Zelda series

I actually played OoT and MM on the GameCube, so hah!

And the games were great for their time, so they deserve a special mention. In fact, they were only flawed in graphics, really, and I don't care too much about graphics.

Does World of Warcraft count? It's not the most popular game in the world for nothing. (Actually, it was the most popular game in the world three years ago – and since then it has tripled in popularity.)

I like Marathon. Yeah, it's old. So what? It's a lot more fun than Halo.

I have played Gears of War on my friend's XBox. I like that game as well.

People probably spend 100's playing mario for a minute in arcades back in the day. You can download it now for a few dollars with a wii. Ahh irony.

People thought a black and white gameboy was da sh^t. I have a phone with better graphics, more memory and I can communicate.

So, yes, updating tech. regularly is crucial.

Some of the above are really old, like me!

It shows, mate. Though Tomb Raider was and will forever be great.

Super Mario 3 is for the Nintendo, it's an 8-bit masterpiece.

I'm not denying that technology has done great things for gaming, I'm just saying that new tech isn't a necessity for a good game.

Ahh, the Super Smash Bros games. I once played it at the house of a friend. I shall never forget it. It is a shame I don't own a Nintendo.

I have heard of World of Warcraft before. What is it like?

'Tis such a pity that I am so limited on my video game funds. I could count the number of games I own on my fingers, with room to spare.

No, well, Edgworth is still the prosecutor. You take the game fro the other side. Which is good for once. Not all arrested murderers are innocent because of a man with spiky hair.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (Xbox)
BioShock (Xbox 360)

Best twists in storylines that I have ever seen. After finishing both of these games, I wanted a movie to be made of my playthrough expiriences.

Was it motion sickness or have you yet to master the dual analogs? =)
