Depends on what you consider "indie" is. There is many definitions, I've found. I always thought it meant simply bands that were separate from major labels - Kings Of Leon does not meet that definition, at least right now.

But anyways, he is some good ol' Canadian post-hardcore indie; Alexisonfire:

I saw Indie as initially, detached from most label. Yet, most of them were soft rock, so the label just stuck.

It sounds cooler than light/soft rock or hard pop.

I have never heard of Indie. Are they some sort of terrible band?

You thought it was soft rock? I always thought it was more inclined to metalcore, screamo and the like. I guess there is no real consensus, except for the whole "independent label" idea.

Hippy light rockers with guitars hated corporations. Start bands, call themselves indie, becomes a genre of soft rock.

Kind of, it's also American, but not Texan. But I guess you would consider it a Union thing, seeing as you guys just found out the Civil war is over.

A good 150 years ago. Yeah, actually, those troops you sent in 1917 and 1942 were for a different war, and the recruitment in 2001 and 2003 was for the Middle East.

So...yeah. You can stop shooting anything blue.

It's actually a conspiracy. They're trying to convince us in our public schools that the war is over so that they can justify sending new troops every so many years.

So...yeah. You can stop shooting anything blue.

NEVER!!!!

Wouldn't it make sense to say the war isn't over so you can send more troops?

People don't like 150-year wars. It's bad press.

MY SLAVES.

Historically though, the Confederacy would have freed the slaves a few years after the end of the war.

LOL @ wjmelement's misunderstanding of the forum label.

Indie was generally used as a way to describe the kind of record label a band was, or was not attached to. Today, a lot of bands fall under indie, there are also a lot of sub genres of indie - post indie etc.

@Volkov, alexisonfire is great.

I liked Tegan and Sara for awhile, but never liked their music in the long run. Tegan's voice annoyed me after awhile.

Alexisonfire though? How can they not be good.

Anyways, here is some Modest Mouse.
