I just saw a commercial for the new Total Recall reboot and decided I've had enough. Really? There is a dire need to remake a classic sci-fi film so memorable, entertaining, and recent that it's still in our collective memory? Of course, as is the trend now, it appears stripped of all its original personality and humor in exchange for larger explosions.

Is anyone else sick of Hollywood's shameless revolving door of story lines? Are these remakes ever necessary or preferable to the original? Am I still going to watch this thing when it comes out? All these questions, and more, answered below!

Yeah it is starting to piss me off. The only remakes and reboots I can stand are superhero movies.

Total Recall is one of my top 5 Arnie movies (Terminator, Terminator 2, Predator and Commando being the other 4) but I think the Total Recall remake looked... well... pretty awesome actually. :/
I'm all for good remakes and reboots, emphasise on the GOOD.

See, your under the assumption that just because it's a remake, it's gonna be horrible.

While.....remakes have a bad record, sometimes they do it right!

Just look at the Halo: CE Anniversary Addition. It rocked!

Why? They took the original game, added minimal, good additions, slapped on a better skin for the character models/environments/objects/ect., added a Halo: CE themed map pack, and BOOM!! It was awesome.

But the most important part in make remakes is to remake it as little as possible...... :P

Well, I've been wrong before and if a friend buys me a ticket, I'm not saying I'd turn it down lol.

I have a problem when remakes are just unnecessary. Unless a reboot is part of a franchise (e.g. James Bond), is remaking a film so old that current moviegoers aren't familiar with it (e.g. You've Got Mail), or is remaking a terrible original film (e.g. The Hulk), it's probably pointless.

Maybe we're just really old if there is a large enough audience that hasn't seen Total Recall.

Or maybe Hollywood is just completely out of ideas.

Next they'll remake Transformers. Although they should, since those movies sucked but had potential.

yeah.. I think they might just be lacking ideas at the moment.. They made a movie based on Battleship the game.. now that's lazy.. I think they could have at least picked a better game.. like Risk, Stratego, Hungry Hungry Hippo, Monopoly, or Yahtzee... those could make for some interesting movies :/ Especially Risk, the tension of seeing some dramatic dice roles might be pretty cool haha

Did any of you see Battleship?

A horror movie based on Hungry Hungry Hippos sounds amazing lol.

Like what? Multiplayer maps for REACH???

No...I couldn't tell you a single game that's been remade in the sense that movies are. Whenever a game gets remade what they're doing is literally remaking a game with today's technology. Improved graphics, features, and the like. The game doesn't actually change like movie remakes tend to.

What, your actually complaining about a carbon-copy of a awesome classic game, with a few more cool features and better graphics?

Why? They took the original game, added minimal, good additions

Yeah.....that was good, you know, for the vast amount of people who aren't overly picky to the extreme.

slapped on a better skin for the character models/environments/objects/ect.

They added some things, but yeah....thats what a videogame remake should be.

added a Halo: CE themed map pack

What about those people that don't have it? Or those that like the new reskin.....with the extra features.....

The Good/Bad is based on the movie itself, not as a comparison to the source material. That is, a Reboote/Remake can still be Good, even if the source was better.

Too soon. Oversaturation of the character. And spiderman is my favorite character whose comics I read growing up, so that's saying something.
