I recently started playing Morrowind again and I am obsessed.

I am using Morrowind Graphics and Sound Overhaul, Tamriel Rebuilt and Morrowind Rebirth 1.9 mods.

It is fantastic! Thought I'd share.
The wise have eyes in their heads, while the fool walks in the darkness; but I came to realizethat the same fate overtakes them both.
Then I said to myself,
"The fate of the fool will overtake me also.
What then do I gain by being wise?"
I said to myself, "This too is meaningless."
For the wise, like the fool, will not be long remembered;
the days have already come when both have been forgotten.
Like the fool, the wise too must die!

I don't really like Morrowind. It has no sense of direction.

That's not true. Why do you say that?

Well not to Morrowind, to Solstheim which is an island between Skyrim and Morrowind.

I overmodded Morrowind so it's graphics and sounds were extremely good. I still hated the game. Way too confusing, and you have to swing a thousand times to hit something. Besides, people look as if they all have sticks up their a**es. Not muh type of game, and I did give it a try.

Ah. Sorry for that bit of misinformation than. You will ride dragons though.

Well, that's just from what I've played. 90% of my time with the game was modding it. It was just so lackluster and boring to me. I also hated the dice-roll combat. I can deal with combat like that in something like Kotor, just because of the visual feedback.

The story, the lore and the feeling are so much richer than in Oblivion. Skyrim was alright but they dumbed the gameplay way down.

Also, you can install a mod to fix the combat if you so choose.

Personally I like getting directions and exploring myself. It adds to immersion. If you want a game on rails that's cool but I like the Elder Scrolls series for it's RP potential and sense of immersion.

I hate on-rails games. The thing with Morrowind is that nothing scales. I wander off the long-arse trail to some randomly named city and BAM! One-shot to the face.

That bothers me too. It has many of the RPG elements that Skyrim doesn't have though so I like it for that aspect. Plus it looks less cartoonish than Oblivion. I'm currently playing as a Bosmer thief.

But in Oblivion EVERYTHING scaled so it was no fun. There was no challenge in it at all.
