So, after the long, long wait since Blood Money IO has FINALLY released their new Hitman game, complete with Glacier 2 system.

I'm about halfway through the story mode at the moment, but I thought I'd take a few moments to talk about what I like and what I don't like about the game.

A LOT of complaints are going up about the new disguise system, which is much less God-like than previous incantations. No longer can you simple don the guise of a security guard and go prancing around the place without suspicion. Now, anyone wearing the same clothes as you will grow suspicious whenever you're in their line of sight and if the little bar (which is very well done) reaches a certain point, they question your identity and hijinks ensue. I like it to be honest. It's not perfect (I mean, how does every cop know every face in Chicago?) but it's much more strategic. I mean, you can simple expend some Instinct and away you go.

I can't actually remember how the old map worked, but that too made you far too god like. No longer; you get a bit of a mini-map and you can use Instinct to check the location of stuff but you are often on your own.

The missions are a mixture of open-ended assassinations and objective based sneak missions, much like Splinter Cell games. I like this too. No mission seems overly linear, but some are far more open ended than others. This story has a lot more to say than previous games so it makes sense that not every section is open-ended.

The game looks and sound beautiful. The controls are great. The AI is a little TOO smart and fearless, but that makes it difficult. You fvck up and suddenly everyone in the vicinity is on you. If however, you manage to isolate the fvck up, you can proceed without magically being attacked by everyone.

I'll write a full review when I've finished the story mode and played some contracts (probably another week or so; it's a lot easier to play the PS3 in the lounge than use the computer in the office, but I still don't get much free time) but in the meantime I'd like to know if anyone else is playing this.

Also, lets make sure to put spoiler tags on things please.

So far I'm thinking it's the best Hitman game yet, but I need to get better at it and learn the maps a lot more before I can make that judgement.

tv, out.

So far your review seems pretty well in line with what most reviews I've read so far. Good game overall, well polished, nice challenge. Wish I could get it, but it has WAY too much gore/swearing/edgy stuff in it.

I'm really impressed with Absolution, as a fan of Hitman.

I really agree with most everything you said. Not much else to add.

I've never played a Hitman game. Is he basically just a killer or......*trails off*

He is THE killer.
You're an assassin. There is an overarching story with various contracts for you to complete. This was easily the most story centric addition to the series.

I've finished it now by the way. Some of the levels were awesome but I felt like it suffered because of how specific what you were doing was. This games missions are very personal in terms of objectives.

That's a great answer lol

Lol, I'm playing Codename 47 right now.

It's basically Thief with guns.

I don't know. Perhaps because of some childhood memory.

It's just published by them though. They barely have anything to do with it. Eidos makes Hitman.

Yea. I know. Square-Enix acquired Eidos long time ago. Yet, as long as the game can be related to the Square-Enix, I would give 10/10 nonetheless.

I guess it is partially because I had such a great time playing FF7/8.

There are four companies I would always award 10/10 (-.-).
1. Square-Enix
2. Capcom
3. Bethesda Game Studios
4. Bioware.

Don't know why. It is probably one of the several things I cannot offer an adequate explanation.
