Say you get "Rain Man" on VHS from Blockbuster to rent
it's not gonna be the same as getting it to own
very different previews. Why?

OK, I'm sorry, it's just I take it as though some people are trying to insult me.

Been a while. I notice that rent VHSs tend to have different previews than VHSs to own.

Well, I'm not sure why that is. Different marketing demographic I suppose. But are there still places that rent VHS's in your area? I seriously haven't seen a VHS other than a blank one in any kind of retail other than used goods in a long time...

I miss the VHS days to be honest, though.

I kind of do too... It was nice to have a standard and easy medium for recording and playback, but I don't miss the "bad tracking" days. I had a sizable library on VHS, but I don't mind having everything being DVD/Blueray, or, in my case, all digital nowadays.

There's probably a fair amount of members on DDO who don't even remember VHS.

I remember having both Beta and VHS actually and switching between them. I actually even preferred Beta because the cassettes were smaller.

If I understand the question correctly, on VHS cassettes there are variable options for recording based on resolution settings. Based on your choice of SP, LP, or EP settings, you could choose the total amount of time you could record on each cassette.

Me too man. When I got my wisdom teeth out and had to sit around for a while I watched a bunch of my old VHS's from when I was little. Sitting and doing nothing while watching childhood movies as your friends bring you ice cream is almost worth getting your teeth yanked for

Manufacturing date..... The studio who made the first VHS release may have sold it to another studio or distributor, or added newer previews.

also, if you still watch previews.... for shame.

usually if someone posts a VHS-rip to youtube, they're going to remove the previews.

What is bad in renting them, enjoying a movie at home is much more fun than enjoying it at a movie theater
