Anyone know some good ska music?

I've been listening to Streetlight Manifesto and some others for awhile now, but I need to expand my horizons, so to speak. If there are some other artists you know, share!

Try, The Cat Empire. Not strict ska, has obvious influences though.

Cool, thanks Puck!

Interesting stuff Brian, though a little bit too heavy on the reggae aspect for me.

Sorry, got carried away...I love 80's ska!

I listened to the Streetlight Manifesto clip you posted and I liked it.

But is it ska? Ska is characterised (as I understand it) by walking rhythms with accented upbeats, such as was made popular in the 1960's by Desmond Dekker and the likes.

Third wave ska seems to have more Hispanic than Caribbean influences.

Nice song, and yes, it's still ska, it's just, as I said, "third wave." But with Streetlight as well, they also incorporate a lot of rock elements into it, so its possible they aren't the best representatives ever.

That title goes to Catch 22. Most Streetlight members, including the main singer, are from Catch 22, but split off to form Streetlight.

Keasbey Nights is considered the epitome of third wave ska's style, at least in the circles I ran in, back in the day.

Nice Scott! I know of RBF but I never actually bothered to look into Less Than Jake before. Pretty good if I say so myself!

Damn glad I made this thread, got tonnes of good suggestions now. :D

I'm with Brian. The original Jamaican ska and the "second wave" of 2 Tone etc. is far superior to al this new rubbish.

Psh, get out of here old man.

Ace songs though. :D
