With the manga officially over, naruto has only so many years left, and korra is in it's last season - I need something to fill the void. What's a good anime that's relatively new (w/in max 2 years), has a creative main plot, and respectable combat scenes (using naruto as an example of respectable combat, and dragon ball Z as unrespectable combat)?

I'm planning to read it sometime. However, the anime is one of the best series I've seen (anime or otherwise), so I probably wouldn't endorse not watching the anime for the manga.

It's almost 20 years old, but I recommend Neon Genesis Evangelion. I haven't seen it, but I'm recommending it anyway.

Sword Art Online

Fairy Tail
(Ongoing right now) Terra Formars.

Try Hunter x Hunter. I cannot stress how masterful yet underappreciated this anime is. Really, I can't comprehend why it hasn't topped the Big 3 yet.

FANTASTIC suggestion! Holy crap, I just binge-watched episodes 16 to 25, and now the season's over. This is one of the best animes I've ever watched. I don't know what I was thinking dismissing it in the beginning because the plot seemed too hopeless and grotesque. Such brilliant production, animation, and music - some of the most epic openings I've ever seen.

When does the next season come out?

It's definitely my favorite anime but I'm by no means an avid anime fan (yet at least).

The melodrama is a bit over the top sometimes.

Agreed.

When does the next season come out?

Apparently early next year (my reaction: http://i.kinja-img.com...), which surprised me since I thought it was going to be a while.

awesome, I hope it's before May. Though, the first season just had too many unanswered questions and I couldn't concentrate on ANYTHING for the past couple of days because of it lol, so I just spoiled most of season 2 for myself through the manga, but not all of it.

"New" meaning animes that are not over and not more than 2 years old.
