Why did he go tell her they where evil? They saved his life.
Is he hiding even more secrets? Why tear out the bible pages?

He has seen what they can do and what they have done. Though they have saved his life, he thinks he was saved by bad people. He believes Alexandra has the potential to survive. After all, Alexandra has many supplies and resources that people living through this tragedy would have. Electricity, transportation by vehicle, lots of food, privacy (living in a house separate from others), etc. Gabriel doesn't want Alexandra to die off.

Adding on to the situation about tearing out the bible pages, remember when he ripped off the sermon's collar and threw it into the fire? That is also a sign that he is becoming less religious. He has gone through so much with them, that he is becoming used to their ways. He doesn't like it, and this is why he approaches Diana.

I understood why he tore up a Bible. I think he went to Diana because he wants the respect and status had had when he was a preacher with a congregation, but Rick's group knows how he betrayed the people of his church.

This season is definitely one of the better one. The different levels of conflict as Rick's group tries to integrate in Alexandria are really interesting.
