the book?

There aren't many, but To Kill a Mockingbird was damn good. At least as good as the book, and Gregory Peck is pretty much great at anything he did.

The Wizard of Oz maybe too.

This thread already exists.

In any case, let me droll out the usual contenders.

Lord of the rings. The first one, atleast, was as good as the book.
Funny, twiight is also in this category, as the movie was as good as the book, that is to say, both were terrible.
The Bourne series, id say the movie was pretty damn good.

I really have nothing to contribute to the thread other than Gregory Peck is (was?) hot, especially in Roman Holiday.

Actually, I daresay the first Harry Potter movie was as good as the book.

I'm pretty sure after the first Harry Potter movie they got a different director. All the other directors ruined the movies.

That, and the first Dumbledore was the best. The second one just seemed so goddamn cold-hearted.

Omg don't get me started. Chris Columbus directed the first 2 and after that, it went downhill (eg. the werewolf in the third movie was a complete joke). Chris's casting was impeccable and unmatched. Richard Harris as Dumbledore was perfect to a tee---Michael Gambon as Dumbledore was too energetic and mean-looking.

Pretty much all the movies on this thread (minus those i put) really are terrible. I'll look for the other thread (sorry about that). I'm always looking for a movie to put on my Netflix list.

Nah, porn is better. Grapes of Wrath maybe, but only because i hated the book.
There was a version of Of Mice and Men, an old one that was good, but probably not as good as the book. I forget the actors.

Hmmm...I'd say All the President's Men is as good as the book. I think its authenticity had to be etched in stone because it was authored by two eminent journalists.
