The "Show about nothing" was actually about something. It began as a sitcom about a comedian and the people who his jokes might be about. This did not work. In the earliest shows there would be a story that the episode was about, such as Jerry was moving to a different apartment, In these early shows, this series looked like just another sitcom that would be cancelled by the end of the season. Th...en they did a show where they were in a mall in New Jersey that had an enormous parking garage, and Kramer forgot where he parked the car. They wandered around until so many people had left, his car was in a large empty space and was easy to see. While this was happening some rather amusing things were going on, and they now had a formula for a show that was something special.

Personally, I believe that it was a show about nothing but aren't most sitcom shows like that. The events in each epsiode are relateble but I think the humour and the characters is what makes this sitcom stand out. THey seem very cohesive and complement one another very well.
