I want to understand why people quote as often as they do. For instance, quoting 1000s of characters of text to write a single line? Does it make you feel powerful? Exhilarated? Fuels your adrenaline? Make you feel like a winner? Why do you quote?

And the biggest one of all, why quote when you are adding nothing? Do you erroneously believe that people are more likely to notice grey text over the previously written black text? You must be crazy if you think so.

Also, whatever you do, DO NOT quote this post in your responses. Also, do not quote anyone that quotes this post and so on recursively.

Mostly out of absentmindedness.
"The Collectivist experiment is thoroughly suited (in appearance at least) to the Capitalist society which it proposes to replace. It works with the existing machinery of Capitalism, talks and thinks in the existing terms of Capitalism, appeals to just those appetites which Capitalism has aroused, and ridicules as fantastic and unheard-of just those things in society the memory of which Capitalism has killed among men wherever the blight of it has spread."

This is an egregious example of said quoting. Disgraceful. I wouldn't be caught dead committing such a flagrant violation of the OP's simple, cogent quoting regulations.

Dude. You are just asking to get trolled. I don't get it haha

This is an egregious example of said quoting. Disgraceful. I wouldn't be caught dead committing such a flagrant violation of the OP's simple, cogent quoting regulations.

Dewd. You're doing it all wrong.

Let's stop quoting here. It is already way too long.

Agreed.

OR IS IT!?!?!?!

Just one more.

After this one we can stop.

No, after this one. I wonder how long it will take to reach 8000 chacters.

That's a good question. Probably a while. There's still 5628 characters remaining.
If you're reading this, you're awesome and you should feel awesome.

Screw you. You broke my no quote rule. Whatever you do, at least, don't quote THIS post.

It's easier to simply make fun of people who quote 7050 characters to type "I disagree, 'cause Kant's a poopy-head." We know the more intelligent, conscientious users don't do this, and the reverse.

To keep context.
And the biggest one of all, why quote when you are adding nothing? Do you erroneously believe that people are more likely to notice grey text over the previously written black text? You must be crazy if you think so.
To show agreement with context as to what you agree with.

While we're on this topic, what about people who quote, will respond to a certain part but not clearly space there response from the quote?! Makes it harder to find what there saying than waldo in a warehouse of candycanes
